According to the Empire Online interview with PJ and GDT (link above), the two movies will include all of the iconic moments in\u00a0the book,\u00a0The Hobbit,<\/em> as well as being expanded to follow other events that occur \u2018offstage.\u2019 This includes the White Council and Gandalf\u2019s comings and goings to Dol Guldur.\u00a0\u00a0Pj: \u201cWe expanded out the universe a lot more so that we weren\u2019t just staying with Bilbo and the Dwarves on their journey, as the book pretty much does. We started to expand some of what\u2019s happening to Gandalf outside of that journey.\u201d <\/em>Things we know are included so far:<\/p>\n

– backstory of Thrain, Thorin\u2019s father<\/p>\n

– Beorn<\/p>\n

– Spiders<\/p>\n

– The White Council<\/p>\n

– Gandalf\u2019s journeys to Dol Guldur<\/p>\n

– The three trolls (Tom, Bert, William)<\/p>\n

– Sauron ( including some of his history)<\/p>\n
