{"id":37317,"date":"2010-06-29T14:24:32","date_gmt":"2010-06-29T19:24:32","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.theonering.net\/torwp\/?p=37317"},"modified":"2010-06-29T14:24:32","modified_gmt":"2010-06-29T19:24:32","slug":"urgency-needed-for-hobbit","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.theonering.net\/torwp\/2010\/06\/29\/37317-urgency-needed-for-hobbit\/","title":{"rendered":"Urgency Needed For Hobbit"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"intro\">Editor Mike Fleming with <a href=\"http:\/\/www.deadline.com\/2010\/06\/can-the-hobbit-wait-for-mgm-decisions\/\" target=\"_blank\">Deadline New York <\/a>has a follow up to\u00a0recent news regarding negotiations with\u00a0Peter Jackson\u00a0to\u00a0direct <em>The Hobbit.<\/em>\u00a0 While he comments it is &#8220;probably the best news\u00a0for debt-laden MGM in years&#8221; it has stepped up the pressure\u00a0on MGM&#8217;s\u00a0studio backers.\u00a0 He writes:<\/p>\n<p><em>Now the MGM creditors also must decide either to\u00a0commit MGM\u2019s half of the production costs \u00a0for the two films or take available outside funding, all before the studio works out its future ownership strategy. If the creditors don\u2019t seize on the momentum, MGM risks losing its chance to release the first film in December 2012. (The second film would follow a year later.)
