Lewis and J.R.R. Tolkien be considered &#8220;real&#8221; artists?\u00a0 Not according to James Bowman.\u00a0 They and numerous others create what Bowman dismissively refers to as \u201cfantasy art.\u201d And fantasy art isn\u2019t <em>Art<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>Mr. Bowman is among that group that just can\u2019t seem to abide anything that smacks of fantasy.\u00a0 Bowman distinguishes Homer\u2019s tales of gods and heroes because Homer actually believed these beings existed. The modern world, however, knows that elves, faeries, monsters, magic spinning wizards and sword wielding heroes don\u2019t exist. To James Bowman these are childish fantasies that should be put aside in favor of reality.
