<\/a><\/a><\/a>\"\"<\/a>Over the weekend the\u00a0MTV Movies Blog<\/a>\u00a0caught up with Hugo Weaving who discussed how he might\u00a0fit in the upcoming Hobbit\u00a0films.<\/p>\n

\u201cElrond is in \u2018The Hobbit,\u2019 in the book,\u201d explained Weaving,\u00a0who portrayed the Lord of Rivendell and ancient, wise elf in Jackson\u2019s three \u201cLOTR\u201d films. \u201cAnd yeah, I would love to work on that, with Guillermo\u00a0del Toro\u00a0directing.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u00a0Weaving, a huge Tolkien fan, was eager to talk about the key plot developments that will involve his character.<\/p>\n

\u201cOf course, I\u2019ve read the book,\u201d explained the star, who can be seen this weekend in “The Wolfman\u00a0hunting a hairy Benicio\u00a0del Toro.\u00a0\u00a0\u201cThere\u2019s really only one scene in the book of \u2018The Hobbit\u2019 [where Elrond appears].\u00a0 On their journey Bilbo and the [others] stop in Rivendell and have a night or two with Elrond.\u201d<\/p>\n

After Gandalf saves the group from trolls and advises them to stop at the Elven outpost, the soon-to-be-cast Bilbo will encounter Weaving’s Elrond, who will enlighten their journey. \u201c[Elrond] is able to read their map,\u201d Weaving explained. \u201cIt\u2019s a star map, and he could read star maps. So that\u2019s Elrond in the book.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cNow, in the film, I don\u2019t know where they\u2019ve gone with it,\u201d Weaving explained, expressing some hope that Elrond gets a bit more to do -\u2013 especially so he could appear in both films. \u201cBecause [screenwriters Jackson, del Toro, Philippa Boyens and Fran Walsh] expanded it, I think, to a couple of films.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201c[I\u2019ll be] reading the star map,\u201d Weaving said with a grin, promising we\u2019ll see him again soon enough.<\/p>\n
