\"PeterComic-Con, a world showcase of pop-culture, has been trying to land Peter Jackson for the last decade since it was announce that he would helm the three-film adaptation of J.R.R. Tolkien’s “Lord of The Rings.” Jackson sent along video to the mega-show for both LOTR and King Kong but for the first time the now big-time director will make the show in person.<\/p>\n

He will make his home in the convention’s biggest room, the already famous 6,500 Hall H, for two consecutive panels on Friday, July 24<\/strong>. He will be on hand to promote the film he is producing for Sony “District 9”<\/strong> along with director Neil Blomkamp<\/strong> and star Sharlto Copley<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

At 6:30 later that same evening, the New Zealander will join another directing icon James Cameron<\/strong> (“Avatar”) while Entertainment Weekly moderates an hour-long discussion between the two regarding how technology and culture will evolve and affect the future of film as both entertainment and art.<\/p>\n

Other Tolkien-themed panels at the convention include:
\n* TheOneRing.net<\/strong> staffers will explore the known facts and the latest rumors regarding Guillermo del Toro’s “The Hobbit,”<\/strong> film just months before it goes into full blown production. Richard Taylor<\/strong> from Weta is expected to join the panel for an update on what Weta has been up to. Thursday, July 23, 10:30 a.m., room 7AB<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

* Saturday’s LOTR-related event is actor John Noble<\/strong> appearing with the cast of his hit show “Fringe”<\/strong>, Saturday, July 25, 7 p.m., Ballroom 20<\/strong>.<\/p>\n
