Mr Bryson had wanted to take a personal grievance case against his former employer, Lord of the Rings production company Three Foot Six. He could pursue the case only if he was an employee, but the company which made him redundant said he was an independent contractor. The Employment Court decided in his favour but the Court of Appeal in November decided he was an independent contractor.
