Variety has already announced that Peter Jackson has been chosen to receive the festival’s 2004 Modern Masters Award, on January 31, 2004. The awards ceremony involves a Q-and-A with the recipient, along with a retrospective involving highlights of his work. The event is held at Santa Barbara’s Arlington Theatre.<\/p>\n
This year, the cast of the film has been invited to be present as well. Additionally, script co-writers Fran Walsh and Philippa Boyens are expected to participate in the festival’s panel on screenwriting, also to be held on January 31, 2004.<\/p>\n
