{"id":24500,"date":"2004-11-22T13:44:46","date_gmt":"2004-11-22T19:44:46","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.theonering.net\/torwp\/2004\/11\/22\/best-of-both-worlds-convention-report-2\/"},"modified":"2004-11-22T13:44:46","modified_gmt":"2004-11-22T19:44:46","slug":"best-of-both-worlds-convention-report-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.theonering.net\/torwp\/2004\/11\/22\/24500-best-of-both-worlds-convention-report-2\/","title":{"rendered":"Best of Both Worlds Convention Report"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"intro\"><b>Merry in Oz<\/b> writes: I attended the Saturday, 20th November, session of the LOTR Best of Both Worlds convention in Canberra, Australia.<\/p>\n<p>It was great to meet and greet the guests&#8211;Brett Beatie (Gimli&#8217;s size double), Andrew Stehlin (stuntman), Stephen Ure (orcs), Paul Norell (King of the Dead), Thomas Robins (Deagal), Daniel Falconer and Mike Grealish from <a HREF=\"http:\/\/www.wetadigital.com\">WETA<\/a>. All of them were pleasant and friendly and gave amazing talks.<\/p>\n<p>There were workshops as well but alas I am too poor to miss work and attend them!! Mike did give everyone a little leather keychain with LOTR stamped on it&#8211;a lovely souvenier.<\/p>\n<p>I was disappointed by the &#8216;no photos&#8217; rule. I can understand sparing the guests having photos taken all weekend, but I thought it a bit excessive not allowing a few snaps at the start of their talks.
