Marquette University’s world-renowned J.R.R. Tolkien Collection contains the original working papers for two of his greatest works, “The Hobbit” and “The Lord of the Rings,” many in the author’s own hand. Tolkien once revealed: “I am a Hobbit.”<\/p>\n It’s turning out that many of the rest of us are, too.<\/p>\n Hobbits are, of course, the 3-foot tall, curly-topped, furry-toed humanoids who take starring roles in Tolkien’s legendary literary epic, “The Lord of the Rings.” Anyone who has not yet seen a Hobbit – or a Wizard or an Orc or a High-Elven King – should get his broadsword or her shieldmaid spear ready.
