Prime Video have announced the final new cast members who will play recurring roles in The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power<\/em> Season Two. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The three actors are, as with previously announced new cast, acclaimed stalwarts of British television and theatre, with impressive credentials and long pedigrees of excellent work. It is exciting to see Rings of Power <\/em>welcoming such talent to the fold, and bodes well for the quality of the show to come. CULVER CITY, California\u2014March 20, 2023\u2014The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power<\/em>, which has been viewed by more than 100 million people worldwide and has been an unprecedented global success as the top Original series for Prime Video in every region in its first season, has announced that acclaimed actors Ciar\u00e1n Hinds, Rory Kinnear, and Tanya Moodie have joined the series\u2019 cast in recurring roles for the forthcoming second season, currently in production in the UK.<\/p>\n\n\n

Nominated for both an Oscar and a BAFTA Award as Best Supporting Actor for his performance as \u201cPop\u201d in Kenneth Branagh\u2019s film Belfast<\/em>, acclaimed actor Ciar\u00e1n Hinds <\/a>has had an illustrious career on both stage and screen. He has starred in such films as Steven Spielberg\u2019s Munich, <\/em>Martin Scorsese\u2019s Silence, There Will be Blood, Road to Perdition, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy, In Bruges, The Phantom of the Opera<\/em>, The Cook<\/em>, The Thief, His Wife & Her Lover, Persuasion, First Man, Amazing Grace<\/em>, Zack Snyder\u2019s<\/em> Justice League<\/em>, and The Eclipse<\/em>, a role for which he was awarded Best Actor at the Tribeca Film Festival. He is also known for his voice role as \u201cGrand Pabbie\u201d the Troll King in the animated films Frozen<\/em> and Frozen II<\/em>.

Television audiences know Hinds from his roles as \u201cMance Rayder\u201d in Game of Thrones<\/em> (HBO) and \u201cJulius Caesar\u201d in Rome<\/em> (HBO) as well as starring roles in The English <\/em>(BBC\/Prime Video), Ivanhoe <\/em>(A&E), Above Suspicion<\/em> (ITV), Political Animals<\/em> (USA), <\/em>and Prime Suspect 3<\/em> (ITV). He most recently appeared in the comedy-drama series The Dry<\/em> (BritBox).

Hinds\u2019 wide-ranging theatre credits include Uncle Vanya, Translations, The Girl from the North Country, Hamlet, Cat on a Hot Tin Roof, Burnt by the Sun, Closer, The Seafarer<\/em>, and many others. He toured internationally in Peter Brook\u2019s company in The Mahabharata<\/em> and has played leading roles at the Royal Shakespeare Company, the Royal Court, the Donmar Warehouse, and the National Theatre.<\/p>\n\n\n

Rory Kinnea<\/a>r is an award-winning British actor, perhaps best known for his role as \u201cBill Tanner\u201d in the James Bond films Quantum of Solace, Skyfall, <\/em>and Spectre<\/em>. Kinnear recently starred in Alex Garland\u2019s Men<\/em>, which premiered at the Cannes Film Festival and saw him nominated for a BIFA award. Other recent film credits include Bank of Dave<\/em>, Mike Leigh\u2019s Peterloo, Broken <\/em>(for which he won Best Supporting Actor at the BIFAs), and the Academy Award- and BAFTA Award-nominated The Imitation Game<\/em>. Kinnear\u2019s TV credits include Inside No. 9 <\/em>(BBC), Penny Dreadful<\/em> (Sky Atlantic), Southcliffe<\/em> (Channel 4, for which he was nominated for a BAFTA for Best Supporting Actor), Charlie Brooker\u2019s Black Mirror <\/em>(Channel 4), and the dramaLucan<\/em> (ITV) in which he starred in the title role. He can currently be seen in Taika Waititi\u2019s series Our Flag Means Death<\/em> (HBO Max).

Kinnear is hugely respected for his theatre work, winning Best Actor at the Evening Standard Theatre Awards in 2010 for his performances in Measure for Measure <\/em>(Almeida Theatre) and Hamlet <\/em>(National Theatre), and again in 2013 for his performance as \u201cIago\u201d in Othello<\/em> (National Theatre), for which he also received an Olivier Award for Best Actor. He previously won an Olivier Award for Best Supporting Actor for his performance as \u201cSir Fopling Flutter\u201d in The Man of Mode <\/em>in 2008, and was nominated twice before for his performances in Hamlet<\/em> and Burnt by the Sun.<\/em> Most recently, Kinnear starred in Force Majeure<\/em> at the Donmar Warehouse. Kinnear is also an award-winning playwright, penning his debut play The Herd<\/em> in 2013.  He made his directorial debut with the English National Opera\u2019s production of The Winter\u2019s Tale <\/em>in 2017.<\/p>\n\n\n

Tanya Moodie<\/a> is an acclaimed British actress who won the Royal Television Society\u2019s Breakthrough Award for the role of \u201cMeg\u201d in the BAFTA Award-winning comedy Motherland<\/em> (BBC). Her numerous television roles include starring as \u201cHunter\u201d in the miniseries adaptation of Neil Gaiman\u2019s Neverwhere<\/em> (BBC), as well as roles in Tin Star<\/em> (Sky Atlantic), A Discovery of Witches<\/em> (Sky One), The Man Who Fell to Earth<\/em> (Showtime), and Sherlock<\/em> (BBC).

Some of Moodie\u2019s recent film roles include J.J. Abrams\u2019 Star Wars: Episode IX – The Rise of Skywalker<\/em> as \u201cGeneral Parnadee\u201d and Sam Mendes\u2019 Empire of Light<\/em> as \u201cDelia.\u201d

In the theatre, Moodie is a two-time Olivier Award nominee for Outstanding Achievement in an Affiliate Theatre for her roles in Intimate Apparel<\/em> and The House That Will Not Stand<\/em>. She played \u201cGertrude\u201d in Simon Godwin\u2019s production of Hamlet<\/em> for the Royal Shakespeare Company. Her performance as \u201cRose\u201d opposite Lenny Henry in August Wilson\u2019s Fences<\/em> in the West End earned her a WhatsOnStage Awards nomination for Best Actress. She was nominated for a UK Theatre Award for Best Performance for her role in Trouble in Mind<\/em>, and she has received additional Best Actress nominations from the London Evening Standard Theatre Awards and the UK Theatre Awards. Moodie studied at London\u2019s Royal Academy of Dramatic Arts, where she was later employed as an associate teacher and council member.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
