TheOneRing.net is not responsible for poems posting with spelling or grammatical errors.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<h4 style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>THE SONG OF YAVANNA AND THE GOLDEN TREE<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><em>by:\u00a0Brian Huseland \u00a9 2018<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">O Sun which rises in the east, and sails across the sky:<br \/>\nFinal fruit of the Golden Tree, and sign of hope nearby.<br \/>\nTo west, O west, it draws our hearts, and with it, travel high,<br \/>\nTo Kementari\u2019s pastures growing gold till death may die.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">The sun, in blessing Arda, spends her strength to make it warm\u2026<br \/>\nFor trees and fields of Middle-earth, for crops of wheat and corn,<br \/>\nAll fruit that swells on bough and vine, let songs our hearths adorn.<br \/>\nThose who love the Sun do love the Tree from which \u2018twas born.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">Earth! O Middle-earth, whose soil so long the Wise defended<br \/>\nBy quiet care, its gifts to share, its wounds we\u2019ve kindly mended,<br \/>\nThough trouble stirs in evil\u2019s acre, gardens we have tended,<br \/>\nThat from these labors, all may find the Golden Tree befriended.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">The beauty of water quenches the thirst of the verdant vine and hops,<br \/>\nAnd the laughter of streams and the sweat of men produce abundant crops.<br \/>\nO Kementari, bless these fields and orchards with many raindrops<br \/>\nThat the Golden Tree may grow from sea to misty mountaintops.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">O Golden Tree! Yavanna sang you, shaped you, mourned your dying;<br \/>\nRejoic\u00e9d when its scion, Sun, shone Light (the Dark defying);<br \/>\nShe likewise saw the fruit of the Sun was to all Men satisfying,<br \/>\nAnd looks for fruit of gratitude, rising to Lands Undying.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">~~ * ~~<\/p>\n<h4 style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>Noldolante<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><em>by:\u00a0Xiuqi H<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">O in my dreams I visited the old kingdoms again,<br \/>\nWestward now under the Sea:<br \/>\nNagothrond beside the mighty Narog,<br \/>\nGondolin, a jewel among the snowy peaks,<br \/>\nTol-Sirion and halls of Vinyamar,<br \/>\nStrongholds of Hithlum and Himring,<br \/>\nArd-Galen where battle cries and war horns long echoed.<br \/>\nCities in proud array and banners freely unfurled!<br \/>\nRivers loud and merry and towers tall as hills! &#8211;<br \/>\nThe glory was brief as a day;<br \/>\nThe lamentations that followed were bitter and long.<br \/>\nGreat kings and noble lords,<br \/>\nRouted, slaughtered, betrayed, despaired;<br \/>\nBy grief maddened, in madness sought death.<br \/>\nBrittle were they as dry reeds in a winter frost,<br \/>\nSwiftly broken, yet never cowered or bent.<br \/>\nSo our youth passed as one long fair spring,<br \/>\nIts summer lost in great flames of darkness,<br \/>\nAnd the ashes of autumn, mingled with winter snow,<br \/>\nDrift by hidden places where harp strings are frozen and silent:<br \/>\nFor all have passed west over the Sea<br \/>\nTo a long twilight and a long sleep,<br \/>\nAnd no second spring will come again.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">~~ * ~~<\/p>\n<h4 style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>The Dead of Dunharrow<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><em>by David McG<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">Who comes to disturb our rest?<br \/>\nWho dares to enter our hall?<br \/>\nWhose voice does the silence seek to break ?<br \/>\nAre you the one to whom we answer the call?<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><em>The way is shut.<\/em><br \/>\n<em>It was made by those who are Dead.<\/em><br \/>\n<em>And the Dead keep it.<\/em><br \/>\n<em>Until the time comes<\/em><br \/>\n<em>The way is shut.<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">Eons we&#8217;ve waited to repent our shame.<br \/>\nIn twilight forgotten and lost.<br \/>\nAwaiting the call from Isildurs last heir.<br \/>\nWhose allegiance we forsook to our cost<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><em>The way is shut.<\/em><br \/>\n<em>It was made by those who are Dead.<\/em><br \/>\n<em>And the Dead keep it.<\/em><br \/>\n<em>Until the time comes<\/em><br \/>\n<em>The way is shut.<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">Redemption we seek to salvage some honour<br \/>\nFinal rest from the curse of the stone<br \/>\nAt Erech we will meet to renew our vow<br \/>\nThat this King will not fight alone!<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><em>The way is shut.<\/em><br \/>\n<em>It was made by those who are Dead.<\/em><br \/>\n<em>And the Dead keep it.<\/em><br \/>\n<em>Until the time comes<\/em><br \/>\n<em>The way is shut.<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">We will follow out into the night now<br \/>\nWe will march with this King to the sea<br \/>\nWe will open all paths blocked before him<br \/>\nWe bring terror and fear as our key!<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><em>The way is open.<\/em><br \/>\n<em>It was made by those who are Free.<\/em><br \/>\n<em>And the Free keep it.<\/em><br \/>\n<em>The time has come<\/em><br \/>\n<em>The way is open!.<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">~~ * ~~<\/p>\n<h4 style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>A Riddle<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><em>by:\u00a0Lynne H.<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">Most all guysThey hurts our eyes,<br \/>\nThey just don\u2019t care.<br \/>\nDwarves won\u2019t comb beard,<br \/>\nRangers smell weird,<br \/>\nSo hard to bear.<br \/>\nBut Elven folk<br \/>\nGreat joy provoke:<br \/>\nSo nice!
