TheOneRing.net is not responsible for poems posting with spelling or grammatical errors.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<h4 style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>A Dragon Comes to Call<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><em>by David McG<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">Oh what former glory lies in ruins and shattered embers.<br \/>\nMonumental feats of craft now scorched and touched by death.<br \/>\nSilent now the chanting halls once filled with mirth and friendship.<br \/>\nRipped and torn by furious lust to seek it\u2019s bed to rest.<br \/>\nNo remorse for legacies stolen for ancient lines now broken.<br \/>\nIn the hurricane of wrathful fury where not a word was spoken.<br \/>\nMighty valour, strength of arms, a fortress hewn of stone.<br \/>\nTreasure laden, gluttonous hoards lit by living flame.<br \/>\nNone withstood the daggered claw, the glistening spears, the withering roar.<br \/>\nNone save the honoured few,<br \/>\nThe spared few,<br \/>\nThe broken few.<br \/>\nLost now and desolate to wander far and wide.<br \/>\nIn mourning, stripped of pride and laid bare in the surrendered throne room hall.<br \/>\nAbandoned, forsaken, alone.<br \/>\nThe Heart of the Mountain pierced and left to fall as a trinket, a bauble, a prize.<br \/>\nRepossessed and coveted now by a King of ancient malice.<br \/>\n\u201cTr\u0101gu\u201dcried the Men of the Dales.<br \/>\n\u201cWorm!\u201d spat the Dwarves of the Hills<br \/>\n\u201cThe Terrible\u201d shuddered the Halflings of the Shire but all to no avail.<br \/>\n\u201cThe Mighty\u201d\u2026.\u201dThe Magnificent\u201d\u2026 \u201cThe Golden\u201d preferred he.<br \/>\nFor He is Fire.<br \/>\nHe is Death.<br \/>\nHe has arrived!<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">~~ * ~~<\/p>\n<h4 style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>The Call of Valinor<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><em>by: Mithril Tinu<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><em>Sometimes at the break of day,<\/em><br \/>\nI hear a voice, softly calling,<br \/>\nWhispering from far away:<br \/>\n<em>Come, come, come.<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">Here in Middle-Earth I dwell,<br \/>\nAnd with the Elves I find my home.<br \/>\nI walk through field and shady dell;<br \/>\nFar I roam.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">I wander far by star-filled streams,<br \/>\nFlowing ever to the sea.<br \/>\nThe sea and stars they call to me:<br \/>\n<em>Come, come, come.<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">And sometimes in my dreams at night,<br \/>\nI see upon a distant shore<br \/>\nA golden light: the light of<br \/>\nValinor.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">And when, at the break of day,<br \/>\nI once more hear the gentle voice,<br \/>\nI turn my eyes to the sea.<br \/>\n<em>Come, come, come.<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">My heart tells me that I must go,<br \/>\nAnd so I leave fair Middle-Earth,<br \/>\nTo sail across the silver sea,<br \/>\nTo my home.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">~~ * ~~<\/p>\n<h4 style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>A Shire Party<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><em>by: Becky A<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">One morning in the Shire so green,<br \/>\ncame many knocks on a door.<br \/>\nBilbo Baggins was soon to be seen,<br \/>\nlater on near the old moor.<br \/>\nDown came a wagon on a path;<br \/>\nan old friend was coming.<br \/>\nYoung Frodo gave out a laugh<br \/>\nand soon took off running.<br \/>\nThey met at an old oak,<br \/>\nHe saw Gandalf happily walking,<br \/>\nand wearing his grey cloak.<br \/>\nHis wagon steed tied on a fence,<br \/>\nthe two walked forward hence.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">Later in the evening,<br \/>\nBilbo\u2019s party was in full swing.<br \/>\nSo amazing, no one even thought of leaving.<br \/>\nGandalf\u2019s fireworks were bright green,<br \/>\nand the feast was the finest ever eaten.<br \/>\nOf the party everyone was very keen,<br \/>\nfor every other party had been beaten.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">~~ * ~~<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Welcome to The Great Hall of Poets, our regular monthly feature showcasing the talent of Middle-earth fans.
