TheOneRing.net is not responsible for poems posting with spelling or grammatical errors.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<h4 style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>The Leaving<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><em>by David McG<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">The shutters are closed, the doors have been locked.<br \/>\nThe welcoming light is no more to be seen.<br \/>\nGolden now fall the leaves from the trees which so long have been vibrant and green.<br \/>\nThe last homely home has allowed Time to enter,<br \/>\nto gracefully bring forth the end.<br \/>\nFor the Elves they are leaving this Middle Earth and it\u2019s fates are for Men now to tend.<br \/>\nThe lights bright are dimmed in Lothlorien\u2019s shelter.<br \/>\nIt\u2019s stairways untrodden and bare.<br \/>\nFor none now remain of the folk who there dwelt<br \/>\nwith the Lady of Light so fair.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">Westward they travel with honour and pride.<br \/>\nThe Children of Varda to meet.<br \/>\nBy the Grey Haven shoreline where graceful white craft<br \/>\ntake them on to their long known defeat.<br \/>\nAll things must pass<br \/>\nAll things must fade<br \/>\nAll that was is now changed<br \/>\nFor the Elves they are leaving this Middle Earth and it\u2019s for Men now to own as arranged.<br \/>\nFarewell to the Firstborn, the Quendi, Nimir<br \/>\nThe teacher, the artist, the friend.<br \/>\nThe Sea finally calls under Elbereth\u2019s stars.<br \/>\nTo lead them to their journey\u2019s end.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">Navaer, mellon n\u00edn!<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">~~ * ~~<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Welcome to The Great Hall of Poets, our regular monthly feature showcasing the talent of Middle-earth fans.
