The Lay of Unnumbered Tears<\/strong><\/h4>\n

Silmaril seized from strong Iron Crown.
\nGained by mortal Beren and graceful L\u00fathien, immortal.
\nMight of Morgoth, made lowly now.
\n\u201cTime has come.\u201d Told Maedhros the Tall.<\/p>\n

New Union of knights: Naugrim, Men, Elves.
\nBaron of Belegost, Blue Mountain\u2019s best: Azagh\u00e2l.
\nFierce brothers, seven fell; F\u00ebanor\u2019s Oath fettered.
\nNargothrond\u2019s few numbers, North to Nirnaeth marched.<\/p>\n

Disdain from Doriath for daughter\u2019s despair and
\nCamlost\u2019s cruel fate. King consenting only two.
\nThe bold and highborn: Beleg wielding Belthronding;
\nHeavy Handed Mablung. Heroes not hesitant.<\/p>\n

Faithful friend of Maedhros: fair Fingon answered.
\nThe helmed Eldar High King. H\u00farin and Huor from Dor-L\u00f3min.
\nCaptains of courage, courageously heeded.
\nDaring for Dagor Aglareb; Dagor Bragollach avenging.<\/p>\n

Eldar and Elf-friend assembled, a last assault appointed.
\nWrath of Morgoth waxed; wrought were evil plans.
\nDoubt shadowed Fingon, delayed in the East was Maedhros.
\nOver Anfauglith\u2019s sands Orcs advanced unseen.<\/p>\n

Goodly Turgon of Gondolin, gladdened hearts unlooked for.
\n\u201cUt\u00falie\u2019n aur\u00eb! Day has come!\u201d \u201cAuta I l\u00f3m\u00eb! Night is gone!\u201d
\nHaughty hearts grew hot, H\u00farin stayed Eldar hosts.
\nBlinded Gelmir brought, baited the Eldar at Barad Eithel<\/p>\n

Gelmir disfigured, dismembered. Gwindor in high dudgeon
\nSlayed until the Gate. Son of Guilin there captured.
\nDemon, dragon, nor wolf ensured defeat of Maedhros\u2019 Union
\nFaithless Men betrayed Men; fighting for Thangorodrim.<\/p>\n

Merry meeting, Turgon and brothers, in mayhem\u2019s merciless midst.
\nHearts glad, hope renewed, As hosts of Hell surrounded.
\nGlaurung the Great Worm, Gulf between armies.
\nFaithless sons of Ulfang, fought sons of F\u00ebanor.<\/p>\n

Numbers of enemy increased. Noldor and Naugrim fled.
\nDire deeds Belogost, the Dwarves won honor.
\nAzagh\u00e2l led armor and axes, attacked Angband\u2019s beasts.
\nIn nave of knave went knife of Naugrim Lord.<\/p>\n

In ghastly rage of gory wound, Glaurung crushed Azagh\u00e2l.
\nDeep throated dirge for dead King. The Dwarves none dared stop.
\nBalrog-lord came to battle, between Eldar hosts.
\nSurrounded, Fingon stood alone. Safeguard dead, shield broken.<\/p>\n

Bright flames and black axe; Blue and white banner, blood-mired
\nHigh King hewed by Gothmog, helm cloven white flame springing.
\nLast left on lost field Lord Turgon and beloved lieges:
\nH\u00farin and Huor held the House of Hador faithful.<\/p>\n

\u201cGo now, good lord, Turgon. Go, fly, to Gondolin!\u201d
\nHailed H\u00farin amidst the hosts, \u201cHope of Eldar hearts\u2019\u201d
\n\u201cDiscovered and defeated Gondor will be,\u201d Darkness deigned Turgon\u2019s heart:
\n\u201cHalls of stone shall not stand.\u201d \u201cStay, lord! In sooth Huor speaks.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cEyes of death on-look ahead. Arising, alighting from you and I.
\nGleaming star, glittering bright.\u201d Glorfindel guarded, Ecthelion guided Turgon\u2019s way
\nHeroes of Dor-l\u00f3min, H\u00farin and Huor\u2019s last stand.
\nRenown won at Rivil\u2019s Stream, red ran the water of no retreat.<\/p>\n

The House of Hador fell one by one, heaps of slain, the Men of Hithlum.
\nAppalling mounds erected by Orcs, added Huor by arrow-pierced eye.
\nAlone stood H\u00farin the Steadfast, upon whom Hell\u2019s onslaught broke.
\nBrandishing battle-axe two-handed, black blood of trolls it smoked.<\/p>\n

Undaunted, unflinching, unshrinking: H\u00farin. Uldor\u2019s treachery redressed.
\n\u201cDay shall come again. Aur\u00eb entuluva!\u201d Declared seventy times over.
\nGangs of Orcs grappled him. Gothmog bound and dragged him.
\nWaning sun as war ended. West winds storming blew.<\/p>\n

Morgoth\u2019s means accomplished. Mortal and immortal by Men betrayed;
\nAlliance with Elves estranged. Except the faithful Edain.
\nWreck and ruin, received by Angband\u2019s foes.
\nHallowed ground, heroes fallen. Housing the dead, Hill of the Slain.<\/p>\n
