TheOneRing.net is not responsible for poems posting with spelling or grammatical errors.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<h4 style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>Laer C\u00fa Beleg<\/strong>\u200b<\/h4>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><em>\u200bBy Jennifer &#8220;Lover of Lembas&#8221;<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">The string was pulled,<br \/>\nThe string was taut,<br \/>\nThe arrow loosed,<br \/>\nThe wind it caught.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">Far over hill and dale it soared,<br \/>\nTo serve both friend and mighty lord.<br \/>\nPursuing one with cursed name,<br \/>\nThrough peril and through fire and flame.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">Strong friend was he, both brave and true,<br \/>\nHis strength and fire ever grew,<br \/>\nUntil a flame that burned as bright,<br \/>\nAs Silmarils in evening light.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">His love was but to defend,<br \/>\nHe was a true and loyal friend,<br \/>\nValor and honor were his wont,<br \/>\nAnd it led him to a bitter end.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">Against evil he bravely fought,<br \/>\nBut evil was the one he sought,<br \/>\nWho pierced him through with frozen blade,<br \/>\nAnd only pain and sorrow brought.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">No more in fair woods will he sing,<br \/>\nNo evening light or glow he bring.<br \/>\nThese woods are barren wasted lands,<br \/>\nWrought with lament for truest friend.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">~~ * ~~<\/p>\n<h4 style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>History Passing<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><em>by: \u00a0Quellind<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">(setting: Mycenae, circa 1500 B.C.)<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">&#8220;Atlantis&#8221;? No, my grandson<br \/>\nYour wise priests intone awry<br \/>\nHear and mark, for truth is passing<br \/>\nInto myth! Recite, as I:<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">When the mercy of the gods<br \/>\nCast the pride of Men-folk down<br \/>\nSailed the Remnant from once-sacred shores<br \/>\nAnd watched their brethren drown<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">While the hammer of Ar-Pharazon<br \/>\nMade land on Aman&#8217;s shore<br \/>\nStruck with wounds, Isildur bled and fled<br \/>\nHis home to see no more<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">But bore he in his bosom<br \/>\nHis kin&#8217;s hope for brighter day<br \/>\nAnd the White Tree&#8217;s sapling yet would grow<br \/>\nAs his line throned did stay<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">They called it &#8220;Atalante&#8221;<br \/>\nWhen the Isle of Promise fell<br \/>\nBut its given name was Numenor<br \/>\nIf old tales we would tell<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">~~ * ~~<\/p>\n<h4 style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>Arwen to Elrond<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><em>by: Harpreet<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">I have loved the sadness of his quiet face,<br \/>\nI have understood the despair in his eyes,<br \/>\nI have known his aura, his hope, his grace,<br \/>\nAnd the age-old guilt which in his soul lies.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">I have soothed his brow and felt the blades,<br \/>\nI have tried to ease constant pain by touch;<br \/>\nHe\u2019s love to me, and now when all life fades,<br \/>\nDeath, when compared to this love, is not much.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">I have chosen enveloping darkness,<br \/>\nI have spurned the last of the passing ships,<br \/>\nI have shunned every sign of weakness,<br \/>\nFor the memory of his eyes, his lips.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">If Aman promised me my share of bliss,<br \/>\nI care not, for, in his heart, I have this.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">~~ * ~~<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Thank you to everyone who sent in their poems this month, it was incredibly difficult to only pick three. \u00a0Cheers Kelvarhin &amp; Mithril.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Welcome to The Great Hall of Poets, our regular monthly feature showcasing the talent of Middle-earth fans.
