The Fate Of the Trees<\/strong><\/h4>\n

Tree of silver, tree of gold
\nOf their beauty much is told
\nYavanna, goddess of growth
\nCreated and did plant them both
\nTelperion, the elder, shone
\nIn silver hues across the lawns
\nAnd Laurelin of golden leaves
\nDid light the world and darkness cleave<\/p>\n

The lights of the trees did wax and wane
\nAnd thus began the count of days
\nFrom them came the sun and moon
\nBut fate had already decided their doom
\nFor Morgoth, dark enemy of the light
\nSought their destruction with all his might
\nBut all that was yet to come
\nIn the days of the trees before the sun<\/p>\n

For the Valar dwelt, the gods on earth
\nIn Valinor and all was well
\nAnd in the light of the two trees
\nThe elves dwelt also from across the sea
\nAnd so came a time of celebration
\nAnd a feast was held for all the nation
\nBut Morgoth had now crept from hiding
\nAnd in the shadows his time was biding<\/p>\n

He knew the trees would have no guard
\nSo drew his spear and stabbed it hard
\nTheir light then faded, the world was still
\nWhile Ungoliant drank her fill \u2013
\nThe foul spider in Morgoths train.
\nThe Valar cried out, but it was vain
\nFor by Ungoliants foul breath
\nThe sacred trees did meet their death.<\/p>\n
