TheOneRing.net is not responsible for poems posting with spelling or grammatical errors.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<h4 style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>Seed of Nimloth<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><em>By Melissa A.<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">High on Mount Mindolluin,<br \/>\nHid in ancient hallow barren,<br \/>\nIn a waste of stone and snow,<br \/>\nThere a single sapling grows,<br \/>\nCrowned with buds of purest white,<br \/>\n\u2018Neath dark leaves a silver light,<br \/>\nLast fruit of the withered tree<br \/>\nThat was born across the sea.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">Single fruit of Nimloth saved<br \/>\nFrom the dreaded tidal wave<br \/>\nThat buried once blest N\u00famenor,<br \/>\nShoot from that which Isildur<br \/>\nDid once plant on Minas Anor,<br \/>\nThis tree grows untended for,<br \/>\nUnguarded, unadmired,<br \/>\nSave by lonely stones and briars.<br \/>\nIt too is threatened by a storm,<br \/>\nBut by sword of Aragorn<br \/>\nFrom destruction is it spared.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">Now comes Isildur\u2019s bright heir.<br \/>\nElendil\u2019s shoot from Northern waste<br \/>\nUp the sacred path makes haste,<br \/>\nHe, the child of elves and men,<br \/>\nOf Elros, Beren, L\u00fathien,<br \/>\nElfstone, Elessar the King,<br \/>\nHe whose hands do healing bring.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">To these hands at last do cede<br \/>\nRoots of ancient Nimloth\u2019s seed.<br \/>\nLong may White Tree bud and flower<br \/>\nIn the City of the Tower!<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">Neglectful, Gondor, never be<br \/>\nLest Nimloth fade eternally!<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">~~ * ~~<\/p>\n<h4 style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>\u201cLament of the Last\u201d (Smaug)<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><em>By: April M. Richards<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">Deep in gold I burrow,<br \/>\nHeart empty, memories of<br \/>\nMy kind floating away<br \/>\nLike the smoke that rises<br \/>\nFrom my scarred snout.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">Ballads of Men and Elves write<br \/>\nMe as Evil, lost to an Ancient Evil.<br \/>\nYet my thoughts recall a time<br \/>\nLong before the Elves danced<br \/>\nUpon the land and the Dwarves<br \/>\nDelved deep in search of rare<br \/>\nMetals and brilliant gems,<br \/>\nDragons prepared the new world,<br \/>\nSwallowing fire from the earth and<br \/>\nTaming primordial waters into<br \/>\nSeas, rivers and lakes, safe for all.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">Yes, I took the Dwarves\u2019 Lonely Mountain,<br \/>\nDriving out their kin and killing some.<br \/>\nBut I did not do it for greed for their gold.<br \/>\nFour hundred years ago, Dwarves<br \/>\nFrom Erebor slaughtered my loving parents<br \/>\nBefore my hatchling eyes and violated their<br \/>\nBodies for their hide. Their bodies rotted, drawing<br \/>\nScavengers and forcing me to flee. A dropped<br \/>\nCoin my only clue to their identity.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">For centuries, I hunted for their names,<br \/>\nFor decades I hid among the cities of Men<br \/>\nIn my human form until I learned of reports<br \/>\nOf the Arkenstone and of Erebor. I launched<br \/>\nMy attack, not wishing to kill any in Dale, but<br \/>\nWar takes all. I drove out the Dwarves and<br \/>\nSettled in the Treasure Room, the only room<br \/>\nI fit in as a full sized Dragon.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">Now, I sit under the gold, hearing light<br \/>\nFootsteps sliding down into this room<br \/>\nAnd smelling a being connected<br \/>\nTo the Earth, to Nature and to Peace.<br \/>\nA fleeting wish to meet this being in<br \/>\nBetter times crosses my mind.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">Outside the secret door, I hear Dwarven<br \/>\nWhispers of Revenge and the lust for<br \/>\nTheir gold and the blasted Arkenstone.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">I know I will die by the end of<br \/>\nThis day. Dragons will be gone<br \/>\nFrom Middle Earth and I wish<br \/>\nDragons would be forgotten than be<br \/>\nUsed Villains to justify violence against<br \/>\nOther beings.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">A brief glimpse of the small being,<br \/>\na Hobbit He calls himself,<br \/>\nshot a Vision through me.<br \/>\nThe Encroaching Darkness will be laid low By Four Hobbits,<br \/>\nbut one connected to this\u00a0Hobbit will suffer the most.<br \/>\nMay he find\u00a0Peace in the West.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">~~ * ~~<\/p>\n<div class=\"sharedaddy sd-sharing-enabled\"><\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Welcome to The Great Hall of Poets, our regular monthly feature showcasing the talent of Middle-earth fans.
