Tolkien\" href=\"\/wiki\/J.R.R._Tolkien\">J.R.R. Tolkien<\/a>&#8216;s <i><a title=\"The Hobbit (2012 film)\" href=\"\/wiki\/The_Hobbit_(2012_film)\">The Hobbit<\/a><\/i>.<sup>\u00a0 <\/sup>The character, which does not appear in the original book by Tolkien, was created by Peter Jackson and <a title=\"Fran Walsh\" href=\"\/wiki\/Fran_Walsh\">Fran Walsh<\/a> as the head of the Elven guard who, like <a title=\"Legolas\" href=\"\/wiki\/Legolas\">Legolas<\/a> (who also appears in the film), wields a bow and two daggers as weapons.
