<\/em>Stephen John Fry<\/strong> (born 24 August 1957) is an English[1]<\/a><\/sup>[2]<\/a><\/sup> actor, screenwriter, author, playwright, journalist, poet, comedian, television presenter and film director, and a director of\u00a0Norwich City Football Club<\/a>.[3]<\/a><\/sup> He first came to attention in the 1981\u00a0Cambridge Footlights Revue<\/a> presentation “The Cellar Tapes”, which also included\u00a0Hugh Laurie<\/a>,\u00a0Emma Thompson<\/a> and\u00a0Tony Slattery<\/a>. With Hugh Laurie, as the comedy double act\u00a0Fry and Laurie<\/a>, he co-wrote and co-starred in\u00a0A Bit of Fry & Laurie<\/a><\/em>, and the duo also played the title roles in\u00a0Jeeves and Wooster<\/a><\/em>.<\/p>\n

As a solo actor, Fry played the lead in the film\u00a0Wilde<\/a><\/em>, was\u00a0Melchett<\/a> in the\u00a0BBC<\/a> television series\u00a0Blackadder<\/a><\/em>, starred as the title character Peter Kingdom in the\u00a0ITV<\/a> series\u00a0Kingdom<\/a><\/em>, and is the host of the quiz show\u00a0QI<\/a><\/em>. He also presented a 2008 television series\u00a0Stephen Fry in America<\/a><\/em>, which saw him travelling across all 50\u00a0U.S. states<\/a> in six episodes. Fry has a recurring guest role as Dr. Gordon Wyatt on the\u00a0Fox<\/a> crime series\u00a0Bones<\/a><\/em>.<\/p>\n

Apart from his work in television, Fry has contributed columns and articles for newspapers and magazines, and has written four novels and two volumes of autobiography,\u00a0Moab Is My Washpot<\/a><\/em> and\u00a0The Fry Chronicles<\/a><\/em>. He also appears frequently on\u00a0BBC Radio 4<\/a>, starring in the comedy seriesAbsolute Power<\/a><\/em>, being a frequent guest on panel games such as\u00a0Just a Minute<\/a><\/em>, and acting as chairman for\u00a0I’m Sorry I Haven’t a Clue<\/a><\/em>, where he was one of a trio of hosts who succeeded the late\u00a0Humphrey Lyttelton<\/a>. Fry is also known in the UK for his\u00a0audiobook<\/a> recordings, including as reader for all seven\u00a0Harry Potter<\/a><\/em> novels.<\/p>\n
