Thranduil is believed to have been the very same Elven King in &#8220;The Hobbit&#8221; who kept Bilbo and his Dwarven companions imprisoned during their journey to confront Smaug.<\/p>\n<p>Legolas journeyed to Rivendell in the  \t\tyear 3019 of the Third Age to attend the Council of Elrond and  \t\twas chosen to represent the Elves in the Fellowship of the Ring. At first staunch enemies, Legolas and Gimli the dwarf  \t\tbecame close friends and their friendship lasted the rest of their lives. Legolas&#8217;  \t\tkeen sight and archery skills were his greatest asset to the Fellowship.<\/p>\n<p>After the  \t\tBreaking of the Fellowship, Legolas accompanied Gimli and Aragorn in search of Merry  \t\tand Pippin, and fought in the battle of the Hornburg. He eventually went to Gondor,  \t\tand fought in the Battle of the Pelennor Fields. While in Gondor, he had his first  \t\tglimpse of the sea and was overcome by a deep desire to sail from that moment on.  \t\tAfter the War of the Ring, he journeyed with Gimli to visit the Glittering Caves  \t\tand Fangorn Forest. In the Year 120 F.
