{"id":104278,"date":"2017-10-26T01:56:31","date_gmt":"2017-10-26T06:56:31","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.theonering.net\/torwp\/?page_id=104278"},"modified":"2017-10-26T01:56:31","modified_gmt":"2017-10-26T06:56:31","slug":"the-great-hall-of-poets-october-2017","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.theonering.net\/torwp\/the-great-hall-of-poets\/the-great-hall-of-poets-october-2017\/","title":{"rendered":"The Great Hall of Poets &#8211; October 2017"},"content":{"rendered":"<h4 style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>The Leaving<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\" class=\"intro\"><em>by David McG<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">The shutters are closed, the doors have been locked.<br \/>\nThe welcoming light is no more to be seen.<br \/>\nGolden now fall the leaves from the trees which so long have been vibrant and green.<br \/>\nThe last homely home has allowed Time to enter,<br \/>\nto gracefully bring forth the end.<br \/>\nFor the Elves they are leaving this Middle Earth and it&#8217;s fates are for Men now to tend.<br \/>\nThe lights bright are dimmed in Lothlorien&#8217;s shelter.<br \/>\nIt&#8217;s stairways untrodden and bare.<br \/>\nFor none now remain of the folk who there dwelt<br \/>\nwith the Lady of Light so fair.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">Westward they travel with honour and pride.<br \/>\nThe Children of Varda to meet.<br \/>\nBy the Grey Haven shoreline where graceful white craft<br \/>\ntake them on to their long known defeat.<br \/>\nAll things must pass<br \/>\nAll things must fade<br \/>\nAll that was is now changed<br \/>\nFor the Elves they are leaving this Middle Earth and it&#8217;s for Men now to own as arranged.<br \/>\nFarewell to the Firstborn, the Quendi, Nimir<br \/>\nThe teacher, the artist, the friend.<br \/>\nThe Sea finally calls under Elbereth&#8217;s stars.<br \/>\nTo lead them to their journey&#8217;s end.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">Navaer, mellon n\u00edn!<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">~~ * ~~<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Leaving by David McG The shutters are closed, the doors have been locked.
