Hobbit_BOTFA_Intl_poster The World Premiere for The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies is approaching fast. For those who will be in London on December 1, here’s Warner Bros. instructions on how you can secure the best possible access and views of the red carpet in Leicester Square.

The first thing to note is that that you’ll probably need to get a wristband. As Warner Bros says: “There will be no guaranteed access to the public viewing area without a wristband.”

Getting a wristband for the World Premiere

Security will issued wristband in Leicester Square from 12 noon on Sunday November 30. Wristbands will be available on a first-come, first-serve basis (that means first in, best dressed) at the Odeon West End in Leicester Square.

Wristbands are numbered and is placed on your wrist immediately. Your wristband is not transferable.

Once you have a wristband, you can leave Leicester Square. You won’t have to return until Monday 1st December. The crowd “pens” (what a lovely term, Warner Bros.!) will open at 12 noon. Only those with a numbered wristband will be allowed into the pens.

Note that if you lose your wristband, or it gets damaged, you have no automatic right of re-admission during the premiere.

Security and other bits and bobs

Security will give instructions on the day to help you safely into the viewing areas. They will be dressed in high-visibility jackets so you can easily identify them. Warner Bros. asks that you please listen to their instructions. Remember to take your rubbish with you when you leave and to keep the area clean. Dress appropriately for the weather!

There will be random bag searches in the viewing areas. Warner Bros. suggests you minimise your baggage to reduce the inconvenience.

Some no-nos: people who blocking doorways or the public footpath, or restricting public or vehicle access in any way will not be issued a wristband and will be asked to move. Tents or camping is not permitted on or around Leicester Square as it restricts access along the public footpath.

The organisers reserve the right to refuse admission, remove or exclude any person whose behaviour gives rise to concerns regarding the health and safety of the public, security, staff or themselves. If you’re found in possession of an item that gives rise to health and safety concerns noted above, you’ll be refused admission, removed and be reported to the police.

Warner Bros. full rules and regs are here if you’d like to check them out.

People who cannot make the world premiere

Good news: for those of you unable to attend the event, Warner Bros will be livecasting the event for us all. Link is below, but we’ll have a proper post in the next day or so so keep an eye out. We also suspect — though it has not been confirmed — that Warner Bros. may be crossing back and forth between the Wellington premiere, which is occurring simultaneously..
