Dennys DofS menuHere’s something we don’t find ourselves posting every day! As part of their ‘Hobbit menu’ fun this year, Denny’s are holding an eating contest at their restaurant in New Haven, Connecticut!  And they’d like some fans to come along and show that they can eat like hobbits; or dwarves; or even a bear…

The contest is the suggestion of one ‘Jamie the Bear’, a competitive eater who made headlines nationally last year for attempting to eat Denny’s entire Hobbit menu. This year he wants to take on some fans, to see if they can beat him! If you’re in the area and you’d like to go along, here’s what you need to know:

The event will take place Monday 9th December, 5.30-7.30pm, at the Denny’s in New Haven –  1467 Whalley Ave, CT 06515

The eating contest will be Jamie versus teams of two or three fans (you don’t have to take him on alone!), and the goal will be to devour as many ‘Radagast’s Red Velvet Pancake Puppies’ as possible in 15 minutes. Dwarvish table manners totally acceptable!

Denny's Gold CoinsFolks taking part will receive one of Denny’s exclusive ‘Dwarvish treasure’ coins (which comes affixed to a Denny’s 20% off coupon) and an IMAX ticket to see The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug.

You do need to SIGN UP to participate – see details below.

There is also an added charity angle whereby any guest (and Hobbit fan who just wants to watch the fun and games!) who stops by during the event and donates/drops off a toy for Toys for Tots will receive a coupon for a free Denny’s entrée on their next visit.

The event will be filmed and posted on Jamie the Bear’s website, which you can check out here.

Think you can take on a Bear and win? Want to prove that Ringers can eat like the best of Middle-earth’s citizens?  Then please complete your details in the form below, and submit!

And if you just fancy going along to watch, and to support Toys for Tots, then put 9th December in your datebook!  Denny’s say, ”We’d love for a Hobbit fan to out-eat Jamie the Bear!’  Make Bombur proud – take up the challenge! (And use Thanksgiving feasting as a good chance to get in some practice…)
