Paperback: The Book of Lost Tales 2: The History of Middle-earth, v.2 Tolkien

BOLT_II This second part of THE BOOK OF LOST TALES includes the tale of Beren and Lúthien, Turin and the Dragon, Necklace of the Dwarves, and the Fall of Gondolin. Each tale is followed by a commentary in the form of a short essay, together with the texts of associated poems, as well as information on names and vocabulary in the earliest Elvish languages.

Condition: Very Good: A book that does not look new and has been read but is in excellent condition. No obvious damage to the cover, with the dust jacket (if applicable) included for hard covers. No missing or damaged pages, no creases or tears, and no underlining/highlighting of text or writing in the margins. May be very minimal identifying marks on the inside cover. Very minimal wear and tear.

Demosthenes’ note: BOLT II contains the only full telling of the Fall of Gondolin, a manuscript of 50 pages or so that Tolkien wrote while convalescing on Western Front during WWI. The language is somewhat archaic, but is quite vivid and dramatic. It’s an enthralling, if tragic, tale. Of all the stories within HOME, this may be the most gripping, and most approachable. If you’re unsure if HOME is for you, this may be the easiest place to start.
