STATEN ISLAND OUTLOUD TOLKIEN READING EVENT INFORMATION:

Staten Island OutLOUD presents a special seasonal performance of J.R.R. Tolkien’s “The Simarillion” on Sunday, December 6 at 3pm, at the Greenbelt Nature Center, 700 Rockland Ave, SINY 10307. This event is free, and fun for all ages. Come dressed as your favorite Tolkien character!!!

“The Silmarillion” describes the creation of Middle-earth, where “The Hobbit” and “The Lord of the Rings” take place. This OutLOUD event is hosted by Suzanne Bernstein, who has composed original music for our performance, featuring an ensemble of traditional and “found” musical instruments. And yes, we’ll have audience participation in the music-making!

Our special guests are Jessica Burke and Anthony Burdge, who are authorities on Tolkien’s work and founders of the Northeast Tolkien Society. They will be available for Q & A during our post-performance dialogue. They’ve also offered to provide some special treats for our guests.

Details on this event can be found on Staten Island OutLOUD’s website: www.statenislandoutloud.org. Find us on Facebook (just type Staten Island OutLOUD into your Facebook searchbar), and follow us on Twitter: www.twitter.com/SIOutLOUD.

We’ll gather in the beautiful Greenbelt Nature Center, by the stone fireplace and surrounded by the winter woods. If you haven’t been to the Nature Center, be prepared for a treat! It’s like being in the Adirondacks. Visit the Greenbelt’s website: http://www.sigreenbelt.org/Naturecenter/ncenter.htm
