Composer Howard Shore was influenced by ancient mythology when writing the film score to “The Lord of the Rings,” Peter Jackson’s film adaptation of J.R.R. Tolkien’s trilogy — just as Richard Wagner was when he wrote his “Ring” Cycle 150 years ago. This weekend the Collegiate Chorale performs excerpts from Wagner’s “Ring” and Shore’s “Lord of the Rings Symphony,” a six-movement work created from the movie scores. [More]

November 10, 2005 – Electronic Arts revealed today that actor Hugo Weaving will once again reprise his role as Lord Elrond for its upcoming RTS sequel The Lord of the Rings: The Battle for Middle-earth II. Weaving played the elven leader in Peter Jackson’s acclaimed movie trilogy. In the game, Weaving will assume the role of overall voice narrator who will “[guide] players in and out of each good and evil mission within the single player campaigns.” In addition, Weaving’s Lord Elrond character will engage in battles were never represented in the film adaptations.
