Cuivienor writes: In the latest Cine Live magazine, we see a picture of Merry and Pippin meeting Gandalf, but in a forest. It might be Fangorn! Or maybe the forest of Huorns after Helm’s Deep? Secondly, there’s a small sentence in French where John Rhys Davies says: “I first was interviewed to be Boromir’s father (Denethor), but this character was afterwards removed from the scenario, and there it goes that PJ wants me to be Gimli!”. Does this suggest that Denethor was originally written out of the Trilogy pre-filming?

Many of you have written in to us describing a problem you have had with your Extended Edition of FOTR, where the disc appears to stall between Boromir’s conversation with Aragorn and the Mirror of Galadriel. Well, TORn staffer Pippin Took points out that this is not in fact an issue with the DVD itself but with the DVD player;

‘It’s called a layer change, when the DVD player’s laser switches from one layer of information on the disc to the second layer. This is normal, and the only way around it is to buy one of the higher-end DVD players, which are better equipped to handle the layer changes more smoothly and with less of a pause while the laser switches over.’

Jeff sent in a little note to TORn that this ‘Two Towers TCG card from Decipher suggests that we will see Isengard being flooded, instead of having it described to us by Merry and Pippin after it occurs as described in the book.

TORn Staffer Mia sends in a translation of the article posted in the Croatian newspaper Vecernji List yesterday concerning John Rhys-Davies’ very unfortunate accident on the set of “Musketeers”. We’ve deliberated about posting this, given the somewhat distasteful manner in which JRD’s privacy appears to have been violated by the press – but in the interests of keeping his concerned fans as best informed as possible, here’s the translation:

ACTOR BADLY HURT AT THE SET OF “LA FEMME MUSKETEER”
John Rhys-Davies in the central Rijeka hospital – background props collapsed on one of the musketeers.

John Rhys-Davies, who plays one of the musketeers (Porthos, btw – M.) in the film “La Femme Musketeer” was badly hurt yesterday afternoon during the filming in Pazin. The heavy construction of a background prop had collapsed and hit the actor, who was immediately transferred to the ER section of the Rijeka main hospital. The group of doctors led by Ivan Kirin, MD, stated there was a major head injury with severe bleeding, and a fracture of the right arm. The actor also had chest injuries but no fractures. John Rhys-Davies, known for his role as the Dwarf in the film “The Lord of the Rings”, will have to stay in the hospital for the next week, which will probably result in stopping the filming of “La Femme Musketeer”. The film crew met last night at the Lovran Excelsior to discuss further filming plans. The American and Croatian actors involved with the film have had a chain of bad luck; last week the actress Nastassya Kinski slipped and hurt her knee, but the injury was not a serious one.

Ananova are also running this story.

We at TORn wish John the very best and a speedy recovery.

Helpful Tips

Sinking box
When you are in the Shire and have to find the Clanker, before you get it, go on the place where the bell is anyway. At the bottom left hand corner are some boxes. Pick one up, walk over to the stairs, and let go. The box will sink into the stairs.

Stuck in building
In Bree while playing as Aragorn, get the bundle of hay for the dummies that you need to make. If you save the game in the building that you get the hay in, you will be unable to leave. The entrance will act like a wall. You will not be able to continue the game.
