We’ve reported about the Hollywood Stock Exchange before. Here is a FOTR update thanks to Gino

This is a big simulation game where players trade movie stocks. Well the Fellowship of the ring (LRDRN) is currently trading at 192,64 HSX$. What it means is that the players think the movie will gross a huge 192,640,000 US$$ at the box office during its first four weeks of business! I found that interesting. The two towers (LRDR2) is trading at 114,21 and Return of the king (LRDR3) at 96,15. Very good for movies that will be released in 2-3 years. Since the release of the last trailer, the movie took about 15$. In comparison, Star Wars: Episode 2 is currently trading at 196,45$ (for hsx traders, this movie is a no risk bet).

Ringer Spy Miriel sends along a fascinating observation regarding Arwen and Aragorn. Check it out! !Spoilers! [More]

Ringer Spy Miriel sends along a fascinating observation regarding Arwen and Aragorn. Check it out!

1 shows Arwen wearing the Evenstar at Rivendell. 2 is a closeup of the evenstar. 3 shows Aragorn and Arwen about to kiss from the newest trailer, its from the same scene (same dress anyway) but she is no longer wearing the evenstar. 4 shows a post-rivendell pic of aragorn, notice chain around neck. 5 is a close-up of thing around neck – looks a lot like the same evenstar, especially detail at the bottom that looks like criss-crossing legs. You can also partly see it in the 2nd teaser trailer when the entire fellowship walk across the screen.

So I think Arwen probably gives the Evenstar to Aragorn as a parting gift at Rivendell. What d’ya think??

Ringer Spy Justin chimes in with word of a possible FOTR commercial seen on FOX recently. Personally I’m doubtful, since I’ve gotten no other emails about this, but who knows.

At about 7:00 [central time] on the Fox News Channel they had a small advertisement for TFOTR. It was on the fox report with Shepherd Smith and it was about 30 seconds long with a 10 or 15 second clip from the new Trailer.

Ringer Spy Matthew sends along the following:

I know what Ringer Spy Justin is talking about. I saw it too, but it wasn’t a commercial on Fox, it was part of a show called, “Fox Report with Shepherd Smith”. As usual, they hyped the LOTR footage when the show began and then broadcast about 10 seconds worth of trailer #2 an hour later at the very end of the show.

Just one week after announcing their suprise agreement with the Burger King chain, New Line have made their second big deal for merchandising the Lord Of The Rings as December approaches. This time, it’s not burgers but chocolate eggs.

New Line seem to have made an agreement with Nestlé to market the Lord Of The Rings with the incredibly popular chocolate egg chain for children, Kinder Eggs. Though not available in the United States, this chocolate candy for kids can be found in most countries in Europe. Usually found with a little toy inside it that you assemble together from little parts, the Lord Of The Ring Kinder Eggs will have some sort of figure or character from the film that can be assembled together. These chocolate eggs will be slightly more expensive than the usual ones.

The first country to have confirmed this will happen in their country is Germany, where the German Kinder Site has announced the series which will be released on November 5th, 2001. Hopefully, more countries will follow suit soon enough. The announcement for this series (in German) can be found by following the link. [More]

The website has also produced a little mock up of what the packaging the eggs will have, with the image of six members of the fellowship walking across Middle-Earth, a starlit sky above them and the German name for Lord Of The Rings above them. [More]
