I finally received my TORN Hobbit collector’s magazine in the post yesterday. All the way from America. And, wow. Absolutely fantastic. It’s as precious as mithril! Thank you!

In reply to: Faie posted an update There seems to be much talk about the dwarves singing. I really hope a lot of singing is included! I missed that in the Trilogy. Hopefully it won’t feel out of place like it would’ve in LOTR. ViewIt really would be amazing to see that! I haven’t heard any of the soundtrack previews, no. I’m being the same way about that, as I am about reading the book again before the film. I don’t want to know anything about the soundtrack, I just want to be blown away by the music and hear it the first time when I see the film for the first time. I…[Read more]

In reply to: Craig Foulkes posted an update The LOTR movie marathon that is going to happen in the US sounds awesome. Does anybody know if any cinemas in the UK are planning to do the same? I have been hoping for something […] ViewAgh! No way, are they really doing it for that? That’s awful. Haha. Well you’re right, in that case they really should do LOTR ones! Everywhere!

In reply to: Craig Foulkes posted an update I have just booked my advance screening tickets for The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey! I don’t think there are enough words to describe how fully excited I am right now! I don’t want […] ViewOh yeah, I see what you mean. I’ve heard there’s a fair bit in there about Gandalf and how he came to be at Bag End that day, persuading Bilbo to go on his adventure. I’ll look forward to reading that. I wanted to read The Silmarillion first though. That’s next on my list. But that’s good! I like a bit of background on characters too. I’m…[Read more]

Hopefully it won’t feel out of place like it would’ve in LOTR. ViewHave you seen the posters that Empire has released? There is one for each dwarf, plus the five Empire magazine covers. But there is this great image of Bofur holding an instrument (flute/recorder) – this restores even more faith in me, that maybe we will see some of the instruments that are mentioned in the book or that there will be more singing…[Read more]

Yeah! I feel the same way about The Hobbit. I’m not reading it again before the film because I don’t want to be thinking about how it’s slightly different or anything like that while I’m watching it. I’d rather the book not be too…[Read more]

I’ve been into it for a long time I suppose, but I’ve still only read The Hobbit and LOTR. I keep re-reading them. I do have The Silmarillion and The Unfinished Tales though, I just haven’t got around to reading them yet, though I do mean to start one soon.

The NZ Post’s Hobbit stamp collection looks incredible. I’ve never been into collecting stamps before but I think I may have to buy some. The coins too. Ah! So beautiful but so expensive! Did they do anything like this for The Lord of the Rings? I was about 10-11 then and I don’t remember.

In reply to: Faie posted an update James Nesbitt (Bofur) revealed that he’ll be singing ”The Man In The Moon song” in The Hobbit (if it’s not cut!) That’s one of my favourites! How about you? ViewSixty-odd? Wow! I got the other cover with Gandalf on last year and the one with Bilbo and Gollum earlier this year so I was expecting these ones to have something similar in length, maybe a little bit more… But that’s about half the magazine, brilliant!

Since the announcement trailer I always thought the tickets were going to sell out really fast everywhere for the advance screenings so I jumped as soon as I heard they had gone on sale, and booked them as soon as I could! Haha, yeah, I don’t think you’re overreacting but I get that; I don’t know many people…[Read more]

Yeah, mine too. I was so excited to finally be able to book them after waiting for so long, I can’t believe it’s only a month or so away now! I’m hoping these last few weeks go by quickly too. -

That’s brilliant, I hadn’t considered that. It would be a good way of explaining why Bofur is singing it in the film.
Thanks, I saw TORn’s video of them being opened and they look amazing. -

ViewOh yeah, it is, you’re right! Come to think of it, I’m sure Bilbo invented it and Frodo recited it or something like that. So maybe they’ll have a bit where Bilbo tells Bofur about it. Who knows!
Ah, I haven’t recieved my copies of Empire yet, I ordered them yesterday though. I can’t wait to read it! -

Same here. I’d felt really anxious about getting tickets all this time. I rang all my friends really early to ask them if they wanted me to get them one too. I think they thought I was overreacting, they don’t understand haha.

Haha, I know you won’t think that!
I only got into Tolkien pretty recently and like none of my friends have read LOTR, and only a few actually remember what happened in the films lol. I think a lot of people are put off by the length of both the book and the films – I know my friends are. It’s such a shame. -

They’re the only books I’ve read too, though I started Unfinished Tales recently. I definitely think The Hobbit is worth a read, and yeah it’s not very long at all! I always recommend it to people. It’s one of those books you can pick up on any page and get sucked in (or for me anyway haha) Oh I think so too, undoubtedly! That the books are…[Read more]

Unfinished Tales is kind of strange, there’s commentary throughout it sort of thing. At the moment I’m just reading the parts which I think will be particularly relevant to The Hobbit films, just so I know a bit more about the characters and stuff. I like to know background. Yeah, I’m enjoying it, it is really so interesting!
