Hobbit Premiere Tour: Plans are being laid

TORn affilates Red Carpet Tours are hatching plans for a Hobbit tour of New Zealand including a Hobbit Premiere Party in Wellington.

As well as all the locations Red Carpet visits in their classic LOTR tour, this 14-day tour will visit all-new Hobbit locations in Nelson and Golden Bay, as well as meeting the original Ring maker.

In 2003, Red Carpet and TORN combined to organise a party in Wellington for the ROTK premiere. It sold out immediately, and was attended by hundreds of people, including surprise guests Sean Astin and Sir Ian McKellen to name a few.

The atmosphere in Wellington around the premiere was unbelievable – truly an unforgettable experience! And we want to do it again.

At this stage we don’t know the exact date of the Wellington premiere, but it’s expected to be in late November or early December. We know enough to start preparing NOW!

Start by checking out the shape and content of the tour here. Dates to come.

Collecting The Precious – Sideshow Collectibles Arwen Evenstar Statue Review

“What’s this? A ranger caught off his guard?”

-Arwen to Strider during The Fellowship of the Ring

The fifth statue in Sideshow Collectibles The Lord of the Rings line and the first female statue has arrived. Which of the amazing female characters got the nod from Sideshow? Well, it’s none other than Arwen Evenstar.

As Strider is out looking for Kingsfoil while Frodo lay stabbed by the Witch King he is snuck up on by a certain female elf. Arwen would lightly give Strider grief for catching a Ranger off his guard before helping ride to Rivendell with an injured Frodo all while being chased by Ringwraiths. This statue of Arwen depicts her wearing this outfit while we assume she is out looking for Strider and the Hobbits.

PACKAGING

The graphics on the box for Arwen follow the same path that most of the statues in this line have followed. You have the front and back panels, which are black/green with The Lord of the Rings and Arwen done in a black/green mix. While the sides of the box you get an image of the statue from two different angles. Inside the box of course you have the protective foam with multiple areas for the many pieces that this statue comes with.

Evangeline Lilly: “Tauriel Is A Warrior”

Entertainment Weekly’s John Young recently caught up with Evangeline Lilly to discuss “Real Steel” which has arrived on Blu-Ray and DVD.  While there are many fans of that movie, Tolkien devotees want to hear more about her upcoming role in The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey.

EW turned the conversation to that very topic and asked if her new character Tauriel would be a type of elf warrior, which Lilly confirmed.  “Yes, she is a warrior. She’s actually the head of the Elven guard. She’s the big shot in the army. So she knows how to wield any weapon, but the primary weapons that she uses are a bow and arrow and two daggers. And she’s lethal and deadly. You definitely wouldn’t want to be caught in a dark alley next to Tauriel.”

Lilly went on to say her role has expanded from her original expectation and has only a small part at the end of the first Hobbit film, leaving the bulk of her participation for 2013′s The Hobbit: There And Back Again.  However, she could not confirm any involvement in the Battle of Five Armies, a highlight fans are looking forward to in the second film.  She did mentioned a return to New Zealand for five more months of filming.

You can read the entire article here at Entertainment Weekly.  And I know TORN fans will be discussing this on the message boards!
