I’m a big fan of the Hobbit Hole line. It’s such a cool way to bring Hobbiton into a collection and is a price point that fans can get into Middle-earth collectibles so easy. Our friends at Weta Workshop today introduce a new Hobbit Hole for folks to add with Hobbit Hole 19 & 20 Pine Grove. This fantastic piece is super detailed and very much gives you the feel that you now have a piece of Hobbiton in you collection. Like the other Hobbit Holes this piece is an open edition and is currently in stock. This one is however larger than some of the other Hobbit Holes and will have a price tag of $99.Posted in Collectibles, Collectibles, ComicCon, Events, Hobbit Movie, Lord of the Rings, LotR Movies, Merchandise, Movie Fellowship of the Ring, Movie Return of the King, Shop, The Hobbit, The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey, Weta Collectibles, WETA Workshop

Our latest review covers another long awaited, and long asked for, piece from our friends at Weta Workshop. The Lurtz at Amon Hen captures this awesome bad guy about to take his last shot and put an end to the valiant Boromir’s last stand with Merry/Pippin. Unveiled at Comic-Con last year this piece is meant to be paired with the Boromir statue we recently reviewed. Both pieces are limited to 1000 pieces and have a price tag of $299. You can still snag this piece and get him into your collection before this becomes another hard to find statue.
Our friends at Weta Workshop are Smelebrating Smaug this month as well as the birthday of Smaug himself Benedict Cumberbatch. This was one of the surprise pieces at Comic-Con last year and I will say it was one heck of a surprise. A brand new Boromir statue capturing his last moments in battle trying to save Merry and Pippin is quite a powerful piece. I think many will agree this is Boromir’s most heroic moment. Not only does this piece have power and beauty, it is simply fantastic in terms of paint as well as detail. Fans who were at Comic-Con know that this statue doesn’t come alone; it’s meant to be paired with a Lurtz statue (he will be reviewed shortly). Both pieces come with a price tag of $299 and an edition size of 1000 pieces.
The Battle of the Last Alliance sequence at the beginning of The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring is one of the coolest moments in cinema. One of the many cool moments within that sequence is when you get that chain of Elves swiping to kill the orcs as they charge. Our friends at Weta Workshop have captured this perfectly with the Elven Warrior statue. The Elven Warrior was quite limited as well, with only 750 pieces worldwide, and is now sold out via Weta Workshop’s site. So if you’re looking to add this to your collection I’d suggest beginning that search now, before this one reaches grail status among The Lord of the Rings statue line.
As I mention in the video, one of the great things about Weta is that they listen to us, the fans, about which statues we want to see. They run polls via the Flame of Udun, the official Weta forums, which allows fans to chime in with something that means a lot to them and often enough those pieces eventually get made.
The Lady Eowyn of Rohan statue is one of the pieces that we’ve been asking for since The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers came out. This beautiful piece captures Eowyn just after she’s stormed out of the Golden Hall, looking out of Rohan in both frustration as well as sadness. If you’re one of the collectors that has the Eowyn as Dernhelm statue, you have a wonderful bookend set of two very pivotal moments for this character. If you’re looking to add this statue it is currently in-stock in the US and NZ Warehouses. For fans in the EU, it is in pre-order status until they get more in stock. Eowyn is priced at US$275 and has a small edition size of only 750 pieces worldwide.
As you know we currently have an amazing contest going for a signed entire set of Weta Workshop’s 1:30 Dol Guldur scene. Going up for Pre-Order today is the South Courtyard area, which will be limited to only 500 pieces. This fantastic piece captures the broken down, thorny vine, creepy feel that we saw the Dol Guldur sequence during The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies. Not only does it do that but this gives you the freedom to create “what if” this happened during that sequence in the film when other pieces from the 1:30 range are added. The newest Dol Guldur piece comes in with a price tag of $99 and will be shipping in August of 2017.Posted in Collectibles, Collectibles, Hobbit Movie, Merchandise, Shop, The Hobbit, The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies, Weta Collectibles, WETA Workshop
One of the new items introduced at last year’s Comic-Con was the 1:30 range of collectibles where fans can recreate scenes from both of Peter Jackson’s Middle-earth trilogies. The first set to start things off is the recreation of the scene from Dol Guldur during The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies. Besides how well it is done, the beauty of this set is that fans can moves things around to create their own version of the events.Posted in Collectibles, Collectibles, ComicCon, Conventions, Events, Hobbit Movie, Merchandise, Shop, The Hobbit, The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies, Weta Collectibles, WETA Workshop
One of my favorite pieces to come out recently is the Uruk-hai Swordsman from our friends at Weta Workshop. This made its debut at San Diego Comic-Con 2015, and I was stoked to see another Uruk-hai – and specifically one from The Battle of Helm’s Deep. Up to this point the only piece we’ve had is the Uruk-hai Berserker, which came out a little over a decade ago. Now we get to expand that with this piece, and hopefully more coming at Comic-Con this year. Collectors can still add this piece to their collections as he is still in stock. The Uruk-hai Swordsman comes in with an edition size of 1500 pieces and a price tag of $299.

As we posted recently, the folks at Funko have announced they’re back in the Middle-earth game, and they announced it with several pretty dang awesome The Lord of Rings Pops. San Diego Comic-Con is coming up in July, and virtually every company there has exclusives for the show. Funko announced today via their blog they would have something representing The Lord of the Rings. The Comic-Con 2017 Exclusive will be Aragorn and Arwen two pack. As of this posting there is no word on price or how these will be distributed, but as soon as we have that information we will update this post.
The folks over at Monolith Studios released the official story trailer for the follow to the hit game Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor. Middle-earth: Shadow of War picks up where the events of the first game end, with your two main characters Talion and Celebrimbor still looking for revenge against Sauron. This time our two main characters will create a “new” Ring of Power that they believe cannot be controlled by Sauron. In order to make sure of total victory, besides the new ring you will recruit followers who will help you in battle via the new large scale battle system. The trailer looks really cool and having played the first game I’m very much looking forward to playing this one.
Middle-earth: Shadow of War will be available for Xbox One, Project Scorpio, Windows 10 PC (Windows Store and Steam), PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 4 Pro; the game is up for pre-order right now at all your e-tailers with Standard, Silver, Gold, and Mithril Editions. Currently Middle-earth: Shadow of War is due to arrive October 10th, 2017.Posted in Lord of the Rings, Merchandise, Shop, The Hobbit, Video games
One of my favorite subsection of statues within the whole Middle-earth statue line from our friends at Weta Workshop is the rider line. This line obviously includes statues that involve someone riding a creature from Middle-earth. There are things like Legolas/Gimli on Arod to Gothmog on Warg. The Hobbit line of course has the amazing and large Azog on Warg, but not anyone from the good guy/gal side of things. That is until Dain IronFoot on War Boar showed up during Comic-Con 2015. Dain was a 800 piece statue and came in at a price tag of $499, which is now sold out from Weta. However you can still get this guy on the secondary market if you’re really hoping to add this to your collection.
