Rings of power are nothing new to fans of Middle-Earth: over the course of the story of The Hobbit, a certain One Ring is found by Bilbo Baggins. However, there are other rings that we will get to know during The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey. In the next few weeks, The Noble Collection will make us privvy to a few of those other rings by introducing five amazing collectible options: Lindir’s Ring, Elrond’s Council Ring, Elrond’s Riding Ring, Thorin’s Dwarven Silver Ring, and Thorin’s Silver Band. As with any of The Noble Collection’s items these rings are of superior quality and a must for any fan of Middle-Earth collection. Get a peek at all the ring offerings and pricing after the break. I love Middle-earth. I also love collecting items representing that world. As you’ve probably noticed through the reviews here, I’ve got more than a few items in my collection. It helps bring the magic Tolkien created and Jackson adapted home along with smiles every time I look at my items.
Now, TORn, as part of our super-secret project, wants to showcase you and your collection!
Starting today, through to next Wednesday, we here at TORn will be collecting submissions in search of Ringer Super Collectors at large. What we need are three to four good pictures of you and your collection, along with a brief write-up about why you are a super collector (write-ups must be 500 words or less).
Email your pictures and write-up to Elessar@theonering.net. We’ll start going through the submissions and you never know — you just might see you and your collection posted soon!Posted in Collectibles, Collectibles, Fans, Hobbit Movie, Jewelry, LEGO, Lord of the Rings, LotR Movies, Merchandise, Movie Fellowship of the Ring, Movie Return of the King, Movie The Two Towers, Shop, Sideshow Collectibles, The Hobbit, Toys, Toys, Weta Collectibles

“It is easy to forget the the events of The Hobbit were hinged on a very simple object, a secret key that would open a secret door. This was Thrór’s Key. Thorin’s Dwarven party desired to reclaim the Lonely Mountain from Smaug, The Dragon, more then anything. The answer to the dwarves quest was a map, door and key created in secret by Thorin’s grandfather, Thrór. Gandalf presents Thorin with this secret key when the party joins together at Bilbo Baggins home. “Here it is!” he said, and handed to Thorin a key with a long barrel and intricate wards, made of silver. “Keep it safe!”
Engraved on the barrel of the key is the same phrase written in Dwarvish runes that are found on Thrór’s map: “Five Feet High The Door, And Three May Walk Abreast.” The key will be available in 2 different sizes, a 1 7/8″ Sterling Silver Necklace and a 2 7/8″ White Bronze Necklace or Key Chain. Note that this product is not yet available on their website. A limited inventory will be available at Comic-Con, with online sales to follow.Posted in ComicCon, Conventions, Events, Hobbit Movie, Jewelry, Merchandise, The Hobbit
There is just one week until Comic Con 2012 starts with Preview Night on Wednesday, July 11. But aside from the TORn panel and WB’s panel for The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey, you may be wondering what else there is for a Hobbit fan to do. The Official SDCC website has put up schedules for panels, autograph sessions, films and portfolio reviews (aspiring artists, please take note). So here is your handy, dandy TORn guide to all things Hobbit and Lord of the Rings related at comic con this year (after the break)Posted in Andy Serkis, Clothing, Collectibles, ComicCon, Conventions, Costuming, Elijah Wood, Events, Fans, Guillermo Del Toro, Hobbit Movie, Ian McKellen, Jewelry, John Noble, Karl Urban, LEGO, LEGO, Lord of the Rings, LotR Cast News, LotR Movies, Martin Freeman, Meet Ups, Merchandise, Peter Jackson, Philippa Boyens, Richard Armitage, Sideshow Collectibles, The Hobbit, Tours, Weta Collectibles, WETA Workshop
Waaaay back at the dawn of TheOneRing.net (last century) Badali Jewelry was the very first sponsor of our enterprise website that dared to follow “The Lord of the Rings” movie trilogy when it was just a whisper on the wind. Since then the maker of officially licensed Middle-earth jewelry have been tight with the website. But this year at Comic-Con, TORn and Badali are getting even closer! Besides making amazing One Rings, they feature custom works spanning 22 specialized genre lines and they expanded space for this year’s show, allowing enough room to share with us! TORn will be hanging out for the duration of SDCC, so really, we can’t thank them enough for that. (We will also have staff hanging with our friends at the Weta Workshop booth, more on that in another story!)
We checked in to see what they had going on for the show and it turns out they have some great new items, including plenty of “Hobbit” related stuff and some significant discounts. Here is what they had to say:
Our main announcement is that we will be hosting TORn at our booth this year, but of course, you already know that. 😉 We are spreading our wings into two booth spaces this year so that means more room for people to peruse and have a friendly chat with the BJS Inc and TORn crews. We are in our traditional location of Booth #530 and now also #532.
We will also be debuting 3 brand new Officially Licensed The Hobbit pieces; Sterling Silver Bag End Door Necklace, White and Yellow Bronze Large Bag End Necklace or Key Chain, and Thror’s Key, used to open the Secret Way into The Lonely Mountains. These pieces are so detail oriented you have to see them with your own eyes to fully enjoy them. (more…)Posted in ComicCon, Conventions, Events, Hobbit Book, Jewelry, Merchandise, The Hobbit

The Arkenstone of Thrain was created and treasured by the Dwarven Longbeards clan of the Lonely Mountain. The Arkenstone was described by Thorin Oakenshield as “a globe with a thousand facets; it shone like silver in the firelight, like water in the sun, like snow under the stars, like rain upon the Moon!” When Bilbo Baggins discovered the Arkenstone on the top of Smaug’s treasure horde, “it was tinged with a flickering sparkle of many colours at the surface.” The stone filled his tiny Hobbit hand, yet he was able to secret the Arkenstone away in his deepest pockets.
The Arkenstone replica is made from fine K9 Crystal which has been treated with an Aurora Borealis plating, giving the the orb a magical glow. The stone exhibits a variety of color depending on what type light its under. The Arkenstone replica comes nestled on a black velvet pillow inside a Dwarven crafted wooden treasure chest. The runes stamped on the name plate on top of the chest read Arkenstone, written in the same Dwarvish runes found on Thorin’s Map. The Arkenstone measures approximately 59 mm (2 5/16″) in diameter — big enough to fill a Hobbit hand, but small enough to hide in a deep pocket. The chest measures approximately 4 1/8″ long, 4 1/8″ wide by 4″ tall (104.3 mm x 106 mm x 100 mm). The Arkenstone replica and Dwarven treasure chest weigh approximately 3/4 pounds (12 oz.).

QUEENSTOWN, NEW ZEALAND — Queenstown is the kind of place where people come and never leave. In fact, talk to a few dozen folks in town and chances are good a few of them wandered into the place and never found their way out.
If it isn’t already, get it on your bucket list.
The mark of the Lord of the Rings films are still indelibly written here and to a degree that might surprise. Nestled on the shores of Lake Wakatipu with majestic mountains on either side, this busy adventure town looks a good bit like cinematic Middle-earth because many times this regions served as such in Peter Jackson’s films. In fact, the list is too long to include comprehensively here.
With a town big enough to have good food, amenities and lodging suitable for stars, it is also on the frontier and a gateway to much of the South Island. But, cultural and financial residue from the LOTR films is still readily apparent and especially to a writer who wears a “One Ring” jersey around town.
