Dave from HeyUGuys writes: I had a good old natter with John Rhys Davies last week about a new movie and asked him about The Hobbit. Sounds like he’s had a change in heart. By no means anything certain but he’s basically asked PJ to put him in somewhere. Guess we’ll see if he does! More..
The folks from Treetop Media Ltd. send this in: British actor John Rhys-Davies (alias Gimli the dwarf in Lord of the Rings movies) talks about The Hobbit and Peter Jackson.
Veteran actor John Rhys-Davies (Gimli) believes his offer to make an appearance in The Hobbit may have caused Peter Jackson’s stomach ulcer.
The 66-year-old Lord of the Rings star said he initially told Jackson he wouldn’t be returning to Middle Earth as the dwarf Gimli, but later had a change of heart.
“The other day when I realised it was about to start a little shiver of regret went through me,” he said.
“So I called Peter Jackson’s assistant and said, ‘If there was anything or even just an excuse to come down do let me know…’
“PJ promptly collapsed and was admitted to hospital, I never heard back.

Bernie writes: Yesterday I attended the Sydney Armageddon Expo for 2011, in which John Rhys-Davies attended. At 11.30, he conducted a panel where he mentioned ‘The Hobbit’.
He said that he would love to return because he had such a brilliant time with ‘The Lord of the Rings’, but would be unable to, due to the toll that his prosthetic. Nothing new. To quote him, “I was asked to return as one of the 13 dwarves, and I thought, why would I want to be one of 13 when I could be one of one?” (more…)

Linuxelf continues to load up the YouTube library of yesteryear. Heading up today’s entries is fun New Zealand television coverage from our own “Return of the One Party”. They (channel 3) call it the “Three Ring Party” and later refer to it as New Line’s party, never quite catching on that it was a fan organized gathering. But they did talk to site friend and expert costumer Judy (look for the beard) and reported from our stage while Emerald Rose is playing.
After the video below are links to fun interviews with the likes of Peter Jackson, Orlando Bloom & Liv Tyler, Viggo Mortensen, Sean Astin, Andy Serkis, Ian McKellen, Billy Boyd, Elijah Wood and John Rhys-Davies as well as footage of fans touring Edoras.
