For most of you, you’ve had at least your first viewing of ‘The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey.‘ TheOneRing.net is proud to bring back our ‘Ringer Reviews‘ – a unique opportunity for fans to share their thoughts on this first installment of ‘The Hobbit’ Trilogy from Peter Jackson and crew. This is not just a simple text form. Among broad questions concerning directing and acting, we also get into specifics, so beware of Spoilers! (Ie, don’t fill in a review until you have seen the movie!!!) Once your review is posted and approved (we are simply moderating to keep things family friendly), share it with friends and family through the social tools right on your own personal review page!
If sharing your thoughts with the world is not enough incentive…we are going to be giving away some great prizes over the next week to randomly selected reviewers. Empire magazine reports that Stephen Colbert has hinted he may have a cameo role in ‘The Hobbit’.
Colbert, who is a self-professed Tolkien geek, was invited down to New Zealand by Sir Peter Jackson for a set visit.
“”I flew out and watched them shoot some scenes and went to some locations,” he explains of the trip. “I saw a 25-minute cut, and it was amazing. Jackson knows I’m a big fan of the films.”
The writer adds: As any good journalist would, the interviewer wonders whether there isn’t more to this than meets the eye. Could, for instance, Colbert be cameoing in the movie? “Could be,” replies the comedian enigmatically.
Hmmm, perhaps he can moderate between Bard and the Mayor of Lake-town!

Last weekend there was another RingCon in Bonn, Germany, the 11th RingCon to be precise.
In the last few years more and more fandoms have been invited to attend. And this year we were very happy to greet a big number of Game of Thrones-stars and their beautifully costumed fans to the event. But I am going to focus on all the LOTR-stuff that happened.

LEGO® Fans worldwide are being treated to a series of early images of the upcoming ‘The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey‘ LEGO® Playsets. (We are deliberately not including imagery on this post because we are pretty sure they will be asked to remove in hours!) There are a variety of sources for images, but the best come from LEGO Toy Story News’s Flickr Stream. Be warned, one set in particular reveals a previously unannounced ‘change’ to the story. We will describe the sets and a brief attempt to decipher each, but we’d love to hear your own conclusions and theories in our comments. There is also a video available of a very excited LEGO fan quickly going over all of the sets. A small heads up for the video – if you are looking for a clear description and accounting of each set – this isn’t for you. He does seem very excited about mushrooms though!
