Game Of Thrones scripts stolen before charity auction

Author George R. R. Martin has urged fans to look out for two scripts from hit TV show Game Of Thrones which were stolen before a planned charity auction.

The writer, who penned the fantasy novel series A Song of Ice and Fire, which the hit HBO series is based on, planned to put scripts from two episodes of the show under the hammer at the sci-fi WorldCon event later this week.

But after he had the screenplays sent over for him to sign, he discovered both manuscripts had been stolen. [3 News] [Time]

HBO renews ‘Game of Thrones’

HBO has picked up a second season of fantasy series “Game of Thrones” on the heels of solid numbers for Sunday’s premiere. Genre shows have been popular with young adults over the past year, with HBO’s “True Blood” and AMC’s “The Walking Dead” often beating their broadcast competition in adults 18-49.

On its opening night, “Thrones” drew 2.2 million viewers in its regular 9 o’clock slot, and then added another 1.2 million for its quickie repeat at 10:05 p.m. (where it likely picked up viewers following the completion of the Boston-New York NBA playoff game on TNT). Throw in the 11:15 p.m. airing (800,000) and “Thrones” drew 4.2 million viewers, according to HBO. More..

Brad Dourif Joins John Noble in the FRINGE Finale

Lord of the Rings fans will see a small LOTR reunion when the May 6th season finale of  FOX’s FRINGE hits the airwaves. Actor John Noble (Denethor) has been one of the highlights of the sci-fi series, winning critical praise for his unique and always captivating role as Dr. Walter Bishop. According to TVLine.com, joining the cast for the season finale is actor Brad Dourif, who played Grima Wormtongue in The Lord of the Rings Trilogy. New EWTN Special on J.R.R. Tolkien

Tolkien biographer Joseph Pearce and artist Jef Murray have collaborated on a new EWTN TV special on J.R.R. Tolkien that will be broadcast this week!. The production will include dozens of Jef’s illustrations of Tolkien’s The Lord of the Rings, and it will focus on the Catholicity of Tolkien’s magnum opus.
