Helm Collectors rejoice! Our friends at Weta Workshop have two brand new items for you to add to your collection. The first helm covers the good guys, coming all the way from Gondor itself. This Gondor King’s Guard’s Helm captures the beauty of Gondor perfectly and is super-limited with only 750 copies world wide. The second helm makes its way to us all the way from pits beneath Orthanc and, like the King’s Guard Helm, perfectly captures the twisted evil nature of the Uruk-hai. The Uruk-hai Swordsman’s helm is also limited to 750 pieces, as well as coming in with a price tag of $79. Both helms are due to ship early next year but with edition sizes this low they won’t last that long so get your orders in now.Posted in Collectibles, Collectibles, Lord of the Rings, LotR Movies, Merchandise, Movie Fellowship of the Ring, Movie Return of the King, Movie The Two Towers, Shop, Weta Collectibles, WETA Workshop

Updated 11/3/17 – From time-to-time you, the fans, email TORn about events of interest to other fans of J.R.R. Tolkien and/or Peter Jackson’s Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit movies. As a service to our readers, we decided to created this new feature: a listing of upcoming events to keep everyone apprised of where they can hook-up and commiserate with other fans, learn a thing or two, or just plain enjoy the fandom that we’ve all come to know and love. From Howard Shore concerts in Paris, to fan get-togethers in Kentucky and South Carolina, to exhibitions in Staffordshire, U.K., it’s all listed here! The list will be updated periodically as past events drop off and future events are added. If you know of an upcoming event, please let us know either in the comments section of this story, or by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org. – TORn, ‘Together in Tolkien’Posted in Concerts, Conventions, Director news, Events, Exhibits, Film Screenings, Hobbit Movie, Howard Shore, J.R.R. (TORn) Just when you think your fandom has run out of Middle-earth related pants, along comes Bakshi Productions with something fresh.
For those of you who don’t know — hopefully none of you — Ralph Bakshi was the director of the 1978 animated “Lord of the Rings” that was both an introduction to many of us into the realm of Middle-earth and was seemingly influential into Peter Jackson’s film trilogy.
Bakshi did a number of other projects in film, but “Lord of the Rings” remains as one of the works he will always be remembered for.
And now you can wear his storyboards for the film on your own body, a unique clothing item in pop-culture and LOTR history.
They are described like this on the order page:
“We are so friggin excited about thes LOTR capris. Designed from the Bakshi approved original storyboards used in the creation of Bakshi’s animated classic Lord of the Rings. These are the ONLY capris like this in the world – AND the only place to ever get them. This is a first printing and will change storyboards when the time comes!”
There is also a shirt.
Do the message boards still have pants threads? If not, time to start one.Posted in Lord of the Rings, LotR Movies, Merchandise

Professor Tolkien’s notes first dated to 1917 as he began developing the characters, stories and ideas for what was to become a Middle-earth mythology while recovering in a WWI military hospital from trench fever. (more…)Posted in Other Tolkien books, Silmarillion
We just found out that the Changeling Artist Collective is currently having a ‘There and Back Again’ online auction of Tolkien-inspired artwork. The Collective is comprised of fantasy artists, many of whom specialize in all things Tolkien, from Hobbits to dragons to landscapes. A wide variety of other fantasy-related artwork can also be found there. From their home page: “Inhabiting the more mysterious nooks of the world, the Changeling Artist Collective is comprised of creators and conjurers. We channel our abilities to weave visual tales that are sure to delight your eyeballs.”
Check out the auction site here. The thing is, the auction ends at noon EST tomorrow, September 15. Yes, we know it’s late notice, but we just found out about it ourselves, and better late then never, right? The good news is, if you don’t read this in time to bid, many of the artist’s works will still be available, and there are other auctions scheduled for the future.Posted in Creations, Events, Fans, Other Events
Our friends at Weta Workshop have an awesome new goodie called the Weta Collecta. This item contains a collectible from all the ranges of collectibles that Weta makes: t-shirt, and various mystery items. The coolest part about the box is that it’s a key to a chance to win a trip to Middle-earth. That’s right! By buying this box, getting some very cool items, and entering the contest attached to the box, you may well end up in Middle-earth. Before October 31, snap a photo with all your Collecta goodies, upload it to Collecta Contest, and you and a friend could be flying to Wellington, New Zealand, from anywhere in the world!
We here at TORn have teamed up with our friends at Weta Workshop for a special review of the 1:30 scale Dol Guldur Environment set with figures. This set made its debut during Comic-Con 2016 and since then each piece has come up for order. This entire setup is really awesome! There is so much incredible detail in every piece that makes up this entire sequence. Also, if you have space issues it allows you to add some quality Weta Workshop made pieces, and still have room for the next amazing sequence to come from this line.
One of my favorite things about this set, which covers the Dol Guldur sequence from The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies is that you can create your own battles. You’re not limited by what was decided before you got it, and that gives you so much room to have fun with this set. Ranging from $50 for the figures to $250 for the largest environment piece fans have plenty of wiggle room to create whatever display they’d like. All of the figures Galadriel/Gandalf, Elrond, Witch-king, and Ringwraith of Forod are open editions. Fans will want to make sure to get not wait on any of the environment pieces North Courtyard, South Courtyard, Colonnade, Palantir Courtyard are limited to 500 pieces.
