PJ AFI Peter Jackson, director of The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit film trilogies, will soon be awarded the International Broadcasting Convention’s (IBC) highest honor in recognition of his work “fostering the relationship between technology and creativity” in the film industry.

The ceremony will be held at 6.30pm on Sunday September 15 in Amsterdam. As part of this year’s IBC Awards Ceremony, organisers hope to show clips from The Hobbit in 48fps 3D.

In the IBC press release announcing the award, Jackson said:

[IBC] is the place where people can talk technical and creative at the same time, so I am particularly delighted to accept the IBC International Honour for Excellence,’ he added. ‘Those conversations which happen every year at IBC are critical to the future of our industry.
