Pennsylvania Youth Theatre is headed to The Shire. The theater will perform J.R.R. Tolkien’s “The Hobbit” March 15-24 at the Charles A. Brown Ice House in Bethlehem, according to a news release.

Performances will take place 7 p.m. Fridays and 1 and 4 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays.

The theater will rotate a cast of 30 children ages 6 to 17 for the performances, according to the release.

“The Hobbit” was adapted into a 2012 feature film, “The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey,” and starred Martin Freeman and Ian McKellan. The story centers on the adventures of Bilbo Baggins, who is tasked by the wizard Gandalf to leave his home and embark on a journey to recover an important treasure, according to the release.
