Today in the Hall of Fire we will be devoting time to some of the Professor’s lesser-read works. Come along at 5pm EST to join in some intriguing exploration of pieces which you may, or may not, be familiar with (if not, then you’ll be able to learn a lot, and enjoy some great company!).

We’ll be going through:

Leaf By Niggle, Farmer Giles of Ham, The Adventures of Tom Bombadil, Smith of Wootton Major, The Father Christmas Letters, Mr. Bliss, Roverandom and The Children of Húrin.

Some themes that we shall be discussing are the settings, characters, styles of writing, meanings and illustrations.

Hope to see you @ the Hall of Fire chat room @ 5pm EST; engage with Tolkien’s huge literary imagination! Your hosts shall once more be Barliman’s chat moderators Miriel and Xanaseb, in place of Demosthenes who’s on holidays.

How long do your topic chats go for?

Our chats usually last an hour to two hours, and are very newbie friendly. Simply drop in and join the conversation! However, our main room, #theonering.net is open 24 hours a day. We don’t always talk Tolkien there, but if you have a burning question, you’ll usually find one or two of “the regulars” up for a chat!
