It’s rare to see movie tix on sale more than a week ahead in Australia. But distributor Roadshow Films is jumping on the bandwagon by releasing tickets ultra-early for eager punters.

The Brisbane Times reported today that Roadshow would be hocking advance tickets to punters from 12.01am on November 7 — some seven weeks before the film debuts nationally. But I just visited the Hoyts Australia website, and tickets are already available (seemingly) for the 3D sessions of The Hobbit in selected cinemas. So if you’re keen to buy early, here’s your chance I guess!

In Australia, The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey won’t hit cinemas until the Boxing Day holiday on December 26. Boxing Day is traditionally a bumper day for cinemas in Australia, and it’s when distributors often debut their big summer hits.
