‘The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey’ – Trailer 2 – Frame by Frame Analysis
Thorin take counsel
Thorin: “So, this is the Hobbit.” Gandalf: “You asked me to find the fourteenth member of this company, and I have chosen Mr. Baggins.”
Garfeimao: The moment when Bilbo realizes he’s being volunteered to go on an Adventure.
Have they gone now?
Garfeimao: Morning after the Party, and Bilbo discovers he’s alone, but looks about warily to confirm that fact.
A plan slowly comes together.
Thorin: “We will seize this chance to take back Erebor!”
Elessar: Thorin giving a great speech. This is a moment I cannot wait to see him telling the others WHY they HAVE to retake Erebor.
“You! Mr. Bilbo! Where are you off to?”
Magpie: According to gramma’s TiMe, the Unexpected Party was April 26 (give or take a day to adjust between calendars). But I spy pumpkins in this shot. At least they look like pumpkins. I also see a scarecrow. [April 26]
Entmaiden: I wonder who is calling after Bilbo – could it be the Gaffer?
“I’m off on an adventure!”
Magpie: This was one of my favorite shots in the trailer. This mad dash of Bilbo’s with more than a little excitement in his eyes.
JW: Very conventional theatrical trailer stuff here, setting the tone and introducing the story. Nicely done.
While I don’t believe it’s a make or break thing for the film, I do want to point out that the geography here perfectly matches Tolkien’s description of the geography of Hobbiton and the direction Bilbo sets off in.
Rivendell, The Last Homely House
Gandalf seeks counsel.
Entmaiden: Is Galadriel at Rivendell, or are they talking via Elf-Skype?Posted in Headlines, Hobbit Movie, The Hobbit on September 20, 2012 by newsfrombree
