I just love this discussions
I saw on wikipedia the first film will last 2 hours 47 minutes and 45 seconds, thus being significantly shorter than all lotr movies, I think Peter did want a triology, for shorter cinema movies, but I think he wont let us fans down and will make super extended editions, hopefully getting four hour movies…I also have a feeling that he’s planning to make some super extended lotr edition, as he said that he still has a lot of good footage, which hasn’t been used.MAYBE WE CAN EXPECT A SIX MOVIES SUPER EXTENDED BOX EDITION IN 2016? (movies would last in my calculations about 24 hours together)As I would totally like to have the complete recording by Howard Shore of The Hobbit and LOTR, I think I’ll better start saving money for 2016!
PS: I really hate the considered title of the second movie: “The Desolation of Smaug”! just emotionless

I hope this third “Hobbit” movie is the “Return of the Bridge Movie”. In the orignal two-film scenario, the second movie was supposed to be a bridge between “The Hobbit” and “Lord of the Rings”. That’s what I’m expecting.

I say let Peter do whatever the hell he wants. He’s a genius who made the best trilogy of all time, so who’s to say this wont make another? I’m excited for anything he puts out. I’ll always be on board with PJ. Seriously, It’s almost like he can do no wrong!

Wait… If The Hobbit is going to be a trilogy.. That means if each movie is going to mirror the length of the LotR movies… then what are the extended editions going to be like? 13 hours of just The Hobbit? I hope PJ can find the material to fill 13 hours. But I certainly don’t doubt him. He picked the perfect actors/actresses for every part. I just can’t wait. I can’t wait!

I’m confused by all of this commotion . The first I heard about the Hobbit being 3 films was when I saw the youtube video of Peter Jackson at Comicon, entitled something like “Peter Jackson confirms third Hobbit film”. But that’s not what it was about at all! All Peter was saying was that he was trying to seek permission from the studio to shoot some footage from the appendices and the like, most likely to go into the Extended Editions of the Hobbit films. He in no way suggested that the Hobbit itself was being split into 3 movies!!! People need to calm down and do their research!

The adventure in the Hobbit took how many days? And many of you think there isn’t enough film footage to fill twelve hours of a movie from all those days? We should be grateful that such talented artists and actors have come together to put more amazing work on screen. Many of you would yearn for more after you saw two movies.
