The Istari Mithrandir (Gandalf) and Aiwendil (Radagast) were sent to Middle Earth by a Valar and given the shapes of old men. So these are not their natural shapes. Mithrandir was Galadriel's favorite. I think it is conceivable that there is some amount of romance there, though I would consider it more likely there is the familiarity of a long close friends. After all, how familiar would you be with a friend by whose side you have crossed millenia? We shall see.

In the scene in Dol Guldur, I believe the sound is not that of a chain snapping, but that of Glamdring's tip hitting the stones of the road. I have done this with my own sword and it makes much the same sound.

Has anyone noticed that in Peter Jackson's "Rise up Christchurch" video several stunt doubles can be seen practicing a scene? There's somebody dressed in brown robes hitting another stunt double with a staff (presumably Radagast) and someone carrying a wooden mace. My guess is that the mace is Sauron's. I get the impression that Dol Guldur's style is somewhat more related to the Barad-dûr than just an ordinary orc fortress like Cirith-Ungol.

Re: Bilbo and Gandalf

based on the clothes he's wearing in the scene, this moment comes after Bilbo's berating somebody ("I just can't go off into the blue! I'm a Baggin's go Bag End!"). Since he's likely being grump toward Gandalf (can you imagine him speaking that way to Thorin?), I think he'll be plenty peeved that his conch potato lifestyle is ending and there will be quite a bit of early antagonism between him and Gandalf.

just because the trailer shows a lot of bag end doesn't necessarily mean a lot of the film will take place there. my suspicion is that peter jackson wanted to open up this first film using a lot of the introductions as a majority of the trailer to give the audience a sense of comfort. i think the relatively low amount of action was intentional. there are a lot of characters that could have been introduced but were not and a lot of key events that were also left out. i think this is a good strategy in order to captivate us for when we really see this movie.

Maybe I can tolerate one of the dwarves with a axe stuck in their head but if they try to write in a love story between Gandalf and Galadriel I don't think I'll be able to watch this movie.
They put in a lot of Arwen / Aragorn love story in the trilogy at the cost of Tom Bombadil and Glorfindel but this will be going to far.
Okay, maybe I'll watch it once and maybe twice if there's an extended edition but definitely not thrice.
