I can't understand how you would consider live music performed in front of your very ears disappointing!! Do you think canned music on cd or blasted from a loud speaker in a theater is more impressive!? If so you, then I guess you have never been to a live orchestral concert. Everyone I have met, including those I haven't (which makes about 24,000! poeple), who attended the Radio City Music Hall Live LOTR concerts of Fellowship and TTT as well as those at Wolf Trap VA (say another 3-5,000) which I also attened gave the performance raves by their applause. You must have a strange set of ears!!

I haven't experienced this concert, but being a fan of both Star Wars and LOTR and of both scores, they are not the same. Other than the fact that they both are symphonic scores, it is almost unfair to compare them.

Perhaps this person is not as passionate about the score as I am. I noted from the review that they have NOT purchased the complete score box sets, which perhaps explains their disappointment in hearing the score overwhelm the dialogue in the film. My complaint would have been that there was dialogue and sound effects to compete with the music! One of the viewing options on the extended DVD's should have included "score only" as far as I'm concerned.

Oh boo. Especially the last sentence. Better??? The concert was presented as advertised, at least in my neck of the woods (San Diego). It was for me a dream come-true and it would not have been the same if I had closed my eyes or popped in my DVD for the hundredth time. This was LIVE, up close and in person, and I loved it when the music drowned out the dialogue. Those were moments. I loved every bit of it, thank you to the musicians whose skill and discipline can bring people to tears.

Wow, having seen both Fellowship and The Two Towers at Radio City in NYC, I can't help but feel that this review would deter fans from seeing these performances. Respectfully, this guy couldn't have missed the mark more. These performances, as about 2 seconds of research will tell you, are the film score performed LIVE with the film. http://www.theradiocitylotrconcert.com/

If you love these films and you love this music, this is the most amazing way to see and hear it. DO NOT MISS IT if it comes your way.
