I think Ori has a great dwarf face despite the lack of beard. These 3 dwarfs have few beard but lets see in the end. I think Nori and Dori are in war uniform ready for the battle of five armies. Then the lack of colour can be explained. Ori seems like a traveller.

At first I thought the beards looked too short but if you look more closely the beards are all tucked up and braided. The one on the right has his beard tucked into some kind ornamental tube. If they undid the braids and let their beards down they would be much longer. The one in the middle is a younger dwarf who's beard is still growing. Not sure about the star hairstyle and the eye brow braids on the left one. I like the costume and weaponry. I think PJ will be avoiding the more childish elements of the book in order to make it fit seamlessly with the visual style and flavour of the LOTR films. As long as there are no major changes like the elves at Helms Deep, or Arwen saving Frodo from the Nasgul, or Aragorn riding over a cliff etc, then I will be happy. Quite exited to see some of the back story added in such as the white council and Gandalf scouting out Dol Guldur, as long as its faithful to Tolkien's writing.

sorry, they look so-so, the one in the middle looks too much like a human, like a monk...or Dwarf-geek! and his beard, why is it so short? Dwarves had very big beards, a rumor has it that they were born with it !!! He looks like being in his puberty...Their faces are too much like humans'. I wasn't expecting gimli-clones but more dwarvish faces. I was expecting to see a face and say "yes, this is dwarf", and here I would say "some guy, human being". And yes, their clothes are not so colorful like in the book, but this is just a detail. Maybe I'm overreacting. Will see in cinema.

I think those designs are a bit too far from the general idea of dwarf we all have in our minds. I mean, originality is always welcome, but there is an original work that the Hobbit-movie team should take as a referent to respect.
Tolkien always emphasized on how long the beards of the dwarves are, and here we don't see this... but okay, let's give it a try, looking at it again it beggins to look cool.

BUT, knowing how Tolkien loved to describe every detail, if there was a dwarf with a star-shaped hairstyle we may probably know it :-)
That star-shaped hair is the most disturbing thing to me, it makes the character look like a goth-dwarf who likes to play Mario Bros all the day, and get dressed with weird cosplays to go to manga conventions or so... ;-((
