I remember seeing the skull avalanche pictures before the SE of ROTK was released. I was afraid for that sequence at the time, and my fears turned out to be valid. That part of the Paths of the Dead scene was terrible and unnecessary. What was a understated and creepy part of the book became a gaudy haunted house.
