cameo at best, and that is fine. A White Council meeting is all that is really required of this venerable actor. I think it’s a great thing to have hime back, especially since he was a bit disgruntled with some of his footage falling to the editing room floor in ROTK.

Saruman was not originally in the “Hobbit”, or at least I do not remember him being talked about in the novel. I am still glad to see that he might possibly be the movie.

Saruman’s role in White Council wouldn’t require any great physical challenges. Those scenes are mainly about (spoilers! –>) tension between him, Galdalf and Galadriel.

He just put up a couple youtube clips and yeah, at a superficial level, he looks frail, but then he rattles off all the projects he’s been working on. The guy is amazingly busy.
