Wood serves on the committee for Elysium Sessions, an Artist Services program that recruits and supports Volunteer Musicians with promotional opportunities in exchange for their time spent sharing their talent and inspiration with hospitalized children, and this album is a natural outgrowth of that program.
Wood explained that for him this was both a creative endeavor and a philanthropic one. “I loved the idea of putting together musicians and songs in a creative way. And that it is a benefit for a charity I care so much about, makes it that much more meaningful.” Jennifer Howell, the founder of The Art of Elysium expressed deep gratitude for all Wood has done for the organization, “For years, Elijah has encouraged and supported The Art of Elysium. He has selflessly given his heart, his time and his talent to make life better for children in need.”

Widely regarded as one of the most gifted actors of his generation, Elijah Wood continues to challenge himself with roles in films spanning the spectrum of style and genre. Wood will next be seen in Galt Niederhoffer’s “The Romantics” opposite an all-star cast including Katie Holmes, Josh Duhamel, Anna Paquin, Malin Ackerman and Adam Brody. The film premiered at the 2010 Sundance Film Festival and will open in theatres on September 24, 2010. Wood’s film credits include Bryan Gunner Cole’s independent film “Day Zero,” George Miller’s animated film “Happy Feet,” Emilio Estevez’s “Bobby,” and Michel Gondry’s critically acclaimed “Eternal Sunshine of The Spotless Mind.” He made an indelible mark in the trilogy of films based on J.R.R. Tolkein’s “The Lord of the Rings” in the lead role of the hobbit, ‘Frodo Baggins.’ Wood recently started his own record label, Simian Records. The first band signed to the label is the indie rock band “Apples In Stereo.” Wood made his directorial debut on the music video for their song “Energy.” Wood also recently signed pop artist “Heloise and the Savoir Faire.”

The Art of Elysium is a non-profit 501(c) (3) organization founded in 1997 which encourages actors, artists and musicians to voluntarily dedicate their time and talent to children who are battling serious medical conditions. They provide artistic workshops in the following disciplines: acting, art, comedy, fashion, music, radio, songwriting and creative writing. They work with numerous hospitals and hospices throughout Los Angeles.
