More about Hobbit: Movie, Studios, The Hobbit The Lord of the Rings: War in the North at IGN.comFrom IGN: You may think that Lord of the Rings games are so 2003, but you’d be wrong. More about Gaming Fraud of the Rings? Not so fastThe New Zealand Herald ran a story recently, which we reported on, about prop collection that cast doubt on Troika Brodsky and his extensive LOTR collection. Not only did the paper originally spell Brodsky’s name wrong, it seems the information in the story is suspicious, including the reported $50,000 he paid for a well-documented Sting. Collector blog www.originalprop.com has published an extensive piece that gives Brodsky his say and also documents in detail the authenticity of the prop (among others) that is the focus of writer Joseph Barratt’s original story. They even reference a TORn article about Frodo’s sword. A complete read is pretty convincing and casts a lot of doubt about the original article and a possible attempt by Barratt to hook readers with a sensational headline. But a spokesman for producer Peter Jackson would not confirm the move, saying it was still only being talked about. The decision follows the box-office success of three-dimensional films such as Avatar and Alice in Wonderland. It comes after The Hobbit director Guillermo del Toro dropped the hint on a Lord of the Rings fan website earlier this month. Del Toro said the film’s studio backers were making inquiries about filming the adaptation of JRR Tolkien’s The Hobbit in 3D and discussions had begun. An industry insider was adamant The Hobbit would be filmed in 3D and Weta Digital – which won an Oscar for its work on Avatar – would be working on the project.
