Hullo!

It looks like Gandalf and Company have concocted something a bit different for next weekend’s Hall of Fire chat. This time around we’re going to take a character from the story and focus on him in depth.

This week’s topic: Frodo Baggins: Hobbit of the Shire

This humble hobbit goes the distance for the Shire and all of Middle-earth. What do you think about him? What characteristics or trademarks of Frodo’s do you like? Do you have a favorite Frodo quote or deed? Some people say that this brave hobbit in fact failed his quest; what do you think? How does the journey impact this character’s life? Does Frodo have any tragic flaws or an Achilles’ heel?

Come share with us this Saturday, April 22, at 5:30 EST [-5 hours GMT] as we analyze the character of Frodo, son of Drogo, hero of Middle-earth.

We appreciate your comments and topic ideas. Please send them in to the Hall of Fire Staff. Thanks!

Hullo Tolkien chat fans!

Another great topic has been conjured up by my favorite wizard Gandalf. Last week’s Hall of Fire meeting was great, with at least twenty folks getting deep on the issue of racism in Middle-earth. This one’s a bit more on the lighter side, so read those books and scratch that memory!

What is your favorite moment in each of the Three Ages in the history of Arda (Middle-earth and the rest of the world)? For the First Age, maybe the War of Wrath? In The Second Age, how about forging of the Rings of Power? And the end of The Third Age, the destruction of the Ring?
